Why am I seeing blowers on these?
What's your retort when you can use EK or XSPC coolers and blow nVidia outta the water.

I think that is separate... look at this image:

http://imagescdn.tweaktown.com/news...-amds-radeon-r9-fury-x2-dual-gpu-hbm_full.jpg

It looks like the fan is separated from the main body which appears to look much like the regular fury. There is a clip that goes along the bottom and partly up... Dunno really hard to tell with the low quality of the pictures.

Super confused on how that sucker is mounted too, since its facing the glass, they using risers off the mobo with the whole thing upside down? Such a small case with lack of fans the thermals must be be amazing if that isn't watercooled.

It looks like the R9 390 stock cooler body:

.

The performance of X2 is reported to be 12TFLOPS where 2 Fury X is around 16 so probably clocked lower due to air cooling\TDP requirements.

Ah! Better image. It looks like that could just be a fan. Possibly on a rad.

Yeah, probably 725MHz to 750MHz range.

2(725x4096) = 5.94 x 2 = 11.9 TFLOps
2(750x4096) = 6.14 x 2 = 12.3 TFLOps

92.8 - 96 GPixels/s Fillrate
185.6 - 192 GTexels/s Texture rate since that's not doubled
5.8 - 6 GTris/s raster rate
1TB/s Memory Bandwidth

Assuming the game supports CrossfireX (Not an issue for LiquidVR under DX11 or for DX12/Vulkan).

So it might be using a blower on these particular models.

If it magically had 8GB of HBM2 per GPU I would be really interested. This could at least be a really efficient card in some games that offer good CFX scaling. If it can overclock well, it may be a fun card to play around with for a year tops before the 4GB bottleneck becomes a problem.

Makes sense as X2 is targeted for VR and small form factor PC so need to keep X2 TDP at 250w for SFF PSU(Falcon Tiki uses a 450w PSU).

Blower Style cooler on a Fiji X2? HAHAAHAHA. Ridiculous.

Just based on the blower alone, this is thing is probably clocked super low (probably lower than the Nano). It wouldn't shock me if this Fiji X2 is only as fast a a single factory overclocked GTX 980TI or a 295x2.

If it's designed for ultra small form factor then they probably don't want the heat dumped into the case. Wonder if there'll be custom versions of this one.

I would suspect custom water blocks to come out, that would be really cool.

That's why a fury x style AIO water cooler would be a really nice fit. It would basically solve the heat issue and the throttling issue. I really thought that was the route they were going to go with.

If it was AIO it would dump it outside depending on where you mounted it

Give me polaris....:'(

Agreed. I'm beginning to worry that, with all the marketing around this product - the buzz and hype and all - Polaris (high end) will be delayed a bit. Else why go with this product? I'd expect the high end Polaris to match this card (single GPU).

? With the clocks this isn't even going to get that near doubling the performance of a FuryX. Even the upper mid range of the 14/16nm gen really should get into its ball park.

Proper top end should blow past it. It is a bit of an odd release, but companies do do this. Presume they just won't make many of them.

I find strange that they are even doing this card so late (closer to Fury X release it would have been a bigger deal), with 4GB and the new process coming, even if a GTX 590 was faster than a 7970 for a while no one cared about it,

so this card could well be the fastest for a while, but will hit a wall with vram and games that don't scale well.
