omg. Finally a vacation camera I can afford. I couldn't justify the micro 4/3rds at all.
I was thinking about a used *ist Pentax with a pancake.

? the E-PL1 is $600. granted, ugly as sin, heh. and lacking a dial control. But it's pretty good. And the 14-42 is a lot smaller than sony's 18-55.. heh

but still, the sony looks to be pretty good. priced very nicely.

I guess I was looking at the prices for the "PEN2". Thanks for pointing that out.

I think the Sony's 18-55 is about as small as can be. Don't forget that the Sony's sensor has nearly twice the area of the E-PL1's sensor. The resulting lens needs to be larger as well.

that's what I was mainly pointing out, there's no where for the sony to go sizewise because the sensor is large. but the sensor is larger, and seems to be pretty good (altho, I will agree their lens samples seem a bit soft). all about tradeoffs and which ones are for you.

Latest firmware enables AF apparently. FM forums, shrug, nikon/canon centric, so of course they'll find any flaw they can. The 16mm is very sharp center wise at least... it's a new lens format so there will be flaws until they sort it out.

you mean enables AF in the adapter for the A-Mount lenses?

Great camera....but, now Sony is playing old Canon.
No manual control in video mode sucks big time. This camera can generate great HQ videos yet it's terribly limited by lack of shutter speed control. At least, I hope Sony unlimit shutter speed control.

Or, they could follow Canon's case and release firmwares that will enable manual control.
