While Seagate's 7200.10 series drives aren't bad, I'm looking for something a little faster.
I was thinking of one of the Fujitsu MAX series drives.
We have them at work, and the noise isn't objectionable - in fact, the idle noise is really very quiet indeed, although seeking is pretty loud (not the ice in a blender noise from some of their earlier drives).
But I was thinking of practicalities such as heat and power?
How essential is active cooling? While I do have a fan in the drive bay, my Seagate still gets to 40 C - so do you reckon I'd have to upgrade the cooling?
What about power? Presumably it's a standard SATA connection.
