I was thinking the same thing, but there is no box for either item. I tried about a hour earlier to just buy it as is, but the kid was too afraid to sell without manager's permission. Came back when the manager was there and got denied. daaamn

unclebud, I didn't let the cat out! I noticed a few weeks ago 2 people posted about the cameras but no one seemed to pay any attention to the posts so I left 'em alone. Then yesterday 2 posts about the cameras that got peoples attention this time. Arrrgh! Oh well, it was bound to happen. I don't think I'd pay 50% off though. I can't bring myself to do it.

Just got back from Target and boy did I score. Found the Fujifilm Finepix 1300, but only the display was left. The CSR offered to sell it to me for $100. I tried to talk him down to 33% off the clearance price but he wouldn't budge. I had him check for the other pieces and the only things missing were the box and the CD. Then he rang it up at $65 plus tax! Don't even know why (although that is approximately 75% off original price).

<< lexar smartmedia (i scanned the 48mb myself) and the sandisk 32mb is on clearance again (48mb came up 42.40--and that was OVER TWO WEEKS AGO) >>

UncleBud, even at another 25% off of $42.40, that is not a hot deal on Smartmedia cards, considering that the 64MB card is down to $38 shipped at Newegg.

This is a nice, small camera. I bought one for my girlfriend last Christmas for around $200. She's Japanese and likes her electronics small and cute. Good find!

This is kinda off-topic, but was wondering about the display items. The posts are saying that the display cameras are actual working cameras as opposed to non-working ones. I went to Target yesterday to buy a minidisc recorder but they were out, but had it in the display counter. I asked if i could buy the display one and the salesperson said they are non-working units without the electronic innerds. So was just wondering if she told me the truth since the cameras seem to all be working units. thanks

doh, out of stock in rochester ny. i had the mx1200, but sold it to get the kodak dc4800. i like the kodak camera, a lot more features, but its nearly twice the size of the 1200. If anyone is interested, i bought a 32MB OLYMPUS Smartmedia card when i had my fuji, but dont know what to do with it now since my kodak camera uses CF cards. PM if u wanna buy it. i paid like $64 a couple months ago.

Electronics markdowns lately have been 15%, 30%, 50% then if you're lucky 75%. Once in awhile they skip the 15% and go straight to 30%. Some items don't even go 75% anymore.

whizbang, I think unclebud was just giving people a heads up. He did say the sm card was down to 42.40 when he scanned it over 2 weeks ago. It's obviously gone down since. When it goes all the way down, you'ld be lucky to find it cheaper.

So do you think the Fuji 1300 is a better camera than the Olympus 360? I didn't care for the way the Fuji looked and I especially don't like the fact that the lense has no cover. The Olympus however doesn't look bad at all.

carmann, once again, you're exactly right. just a heads up
but then again, i dislike ordering online and waiting on rebates...

well, i've calmed down now so i'm editing 😀

I'll ask again since no one has answered my question...

Is the Fuji 1300 a better camera than the Olympus 360? Anyone have an opinion on this?

I broke down and bought the Olympus 460 (when it drops again I will get the difference back) but I'm thinking about picking up the 360 too.

Carmann, I own both the Olympus 360L and the Finepix 1300. I find them comparable in features and picture quality. However, I haven't downloaded any pics from the Fuji yet, so I'm basing that on the image in the tiny 1.6" screen. The Fuji is easier to use and displays pictures faster on the little screen, but the Olympus has a larger 1.8" screen that displays brighter. The Olympus is heavier and bulkier. Overall, I don't think one stands out above the other, unless I find that the pics are poorer quality on the Fuji. My Olympus always delivers pics with great color balance. Biggest gripe on the Olympus is the unintuitive menu system and tiny buttons on the back.

whizbang, thanks for the info. I ended up buying the 360 today. I don't need it after buying the 460 yesterday but I figure I'll play with it awhile and see if it's good enough to keep.

Stopped by my Target to pick up the 460 for $172 and saw the Fujifilm with a red sticker! It was priced at $62.00. Jumped on it, got everything but the box! BTW they had a 460 for $172 but it was the camera only and they would not give me anything off. :-(

But hey $62.00 plus tax out the door!

This was in Columbus Ohio

Hey guys I just got this too. It was 124 was just the camera no cables etc (like I need them) so I convinced the manager to give me a 50% discount. So it was 64 b4 tax. My sister also got the Olympus 360L for a little over a hundred. Anyway great stuff go get one ASAP they don't seam to have a lot left, my sis and I took the last 2 clerance digital cams. BTW in north Dallas TX....

Just picked up mine at Target. It was the display model but it didnt came with a smart card.
Is the smart card usually included or do you have to by that separat.

The smartcard and cables are included.

Just an fyi, if anyone here bought Microsoft Picture It Photo (I didn't buy it, I won it from MS) there are rebate forms inside for Fuji digicams, APS cams and 35mm cams. You can get a $20 rebate on the Fuji 1300 for purchases made by 10-31-01.

<< , if you bought one of these Olympus or Fujifilm cameras, don't forget to check out this thread for 128MB Smartmedia card for $70. A 128MB card will store about 600 pics at HQ setting. >>

FWIW: I don't think these cams(olympus) will support anything above 64mb. Not sure about the Fuji.

...russ

i got the finepix display model at target and i didn't come with anything...what kind of stupid usb cables are you supposed to be using? the only two i've known of are the USB A and USB B cables and they are both the incorrect size. am I overlooking something or are these usb connections for the camera custom made and must be ordered from fuji? I went to best buy today and asked a CSR and the guy told me to buy firewire cables? I was like WTF...but he kept insisting they were the right ones?! help?

I have the d460, got it for 156 at my target(display model, with everything). It takes amazing pics, and the zoom on it is the equivelent of a 35mm-105mm zoom on a standard cam.
