The USB connector for the 1300 is a proprietary Fuji connector. I had to order one from Fuji Parts (phone# on the website) to get mine going... costs like $27 shipped.

It's *NOT* firewire, and it's *NOT* the same connector as the Olympus (although they're pretty close).

finally realized this week that smartmedia and compact flash aren't the same thing. my posts are moot🙁/😛
man, wish i'd bought that 8mb @ sears

Save the $27 for the stoopid proprietary USB cable from Fuji and buy a USB Smartmedia Card Reader, instead. Why gobble up your camera battery power trying to connect to the camera from your image editing software when you can drag and drop, copy and paste or delete image files directly from your Smartmedia card to your hard drive (and vice versa) right from Windows Exploder. The card reader shows up like an extra drive in Windows Exploder (at least my PNY Technologies Dual Slot card reader does) and transferring files this way is much faster and easier to use than the goofy connection you will get from your image editing program. This is a worthwhile investment for anyone with a digital camera, MP3 player or other Smartmedia/Compact Flash/MMC device. Buy.com has a good selection of USB readers in the $20-$30 range, although you may find them cheaper elsewhere.
