Last week, BestBuy was carrying 8x TDKs 25pk for 9.99. I'm not sure why you would think 25 for $10 is better than 50 for $20.Originally posted by: isekii

So just to double check, the Made In Japan DVD-Rs are the TYs?
Don't get this, could be 1X.Make sure to look for the "Made in Japan" packages -- TY cakeboxes have a fat bottom with a scalloped edge and look like this.

Not hot for me if 2.4X. Anyone buy the DVD+R and confirm if you get 8x, not 2.4X?
DVD+R - 2.4X
DVD-R - 1X
Note: Fuji - Fuji - 100pk 4X DVD+R spindle is $79.99 + tax.

Yes. And FWIW, Japanese-manufactured optical media is generally a good thing, whether it's Taiyo or not. Taiyo just happens to be the most readily available in US retail stores that I know of, through Fuji.Originally posted by: OddTSi

yeah, those pics of the cakeboxes show the difference. The 1st is TY and the 2nd is not. They're pretty distinctive once you know what to look for. To double check that it's TY, you can find the "MADE IN JAPAN," below the UPC on the packaging. There are several lines of text below the UPC, it's the very last line.
