[Fudzilla] BenQ and Viewsonic F[r]eeSync monitors in time for holidays

You might want to edit your title to Freesync. No pun intended, right? 😛

Awesome! It's finally getting close, I've been waiting for them to hit and await the first reviews.

With the Philips ~$800 40" 4k, Dell $700 27" IPS 4k, and now Freesync monitors hitting the market is getting very appealing. I just hope we get another series of price drops like 2014 brought.

WoW! Smoking hot deal there! 4k fidelity for $350 is a heck of a deal!

Even the new 4k TN monitors (assuming they are the same panel) look pretty good.
TN for 350 bucks is about like a G3258 for 60 bucks. tempting killer deals but just dont meet my standards. 😛

Our sources have informed us that two other monitor manufactures can ship FreeSync monitors even sooner, before Christmas. BenQ and Viewsonic will have monitors ready to ship quite soon, almost hitting the previously reported November timeframe.
So now we have three major monitor manufacturers who will be producing FreeSync capable monitors. Samsung, BenQ and Viewsonic. That should be enough to silence the "FreeSync is vaporware! It's all lies!" crowd.

Depending on how much these monitors cost and how they perform during reviews, this could easily be the start of G-sinking.

Why every time it has to be like that ??? Im sure G-sync monitors will continue to be sold. There are a lot of NVIDIA GPUs sold every year and lots of buyers will benefit from them.

Well i was looking for a 21:9 Monitor, i hope manufacturers will bring one with FreeSync in 2015.

And you can add LG according to OCUK's buyer.

Also, this^

Sounds like 4K is becoming affordable for TN panels. I won't go back to TN ever again though. And my 1440p still looks really good. And GPU horsepower just isn't there yet for demanding 4k content.

Last time I looked NV controlled 70% of the dGPU market. NV works with G-Sync. G-sync isn't going to sink unless NV loses MAJOR market share in dGPU.

NV owners will buy G-snyc and AMD owners will buy freesync and the market will remain the same IMO. 70-30.

Freesync to hdtvs that are 60+ inches please? Or gsync doesn't matter to me.
One can only dream.

i own a nvidia card i certainly wont support gsync.

I have a GTX 970, and there's no way I'll be buying a GSync exclusive monitor. VESA adaptive sync monitors sound great. Hopefully nVidia will start supporting these soon. They don't have a choice.

Yeah it's a real catch 22. If Viewsonic/BenQ release a range of 4k and 1440p 144hz Fresync monitors I would love to get my hands on a 1440p one. I have NV GPUs though so I would consider swapping brands for it as there are no good Gsync monitors apart from the swift and I don't want that at its current price and issues.

I would prefer to stay on NV but it sounds like they will lack the monitor options compared to AMD very shortly. I am looking at upgrading cards soon perhaps the 390 + freesync will be what finally makes me jump ship back to the red.

They certainly do have a choice and so do you. AMD will support freesync and NV will support G-sync. Pick your poison and pick your video card company. Isn't capitalism grand? You have a choice of two "sync" standards and the video cards that support each.

good post!!!

It could take years for this to play out...and things can take an unimaginable turn.

It is great to start seeing announcements on the freesync side but honestly....do we really know anything about it? We have yet to have a single gamer demo it. How fast people jump the gun around here. We need a lot more information and no one should be making such absolute claims.

I find it really really strange......

But here is to freesync
I hope this continues momentum in our quest of better gaming for all of mankind!!

If the heavy hitters in monitors and LCD panel space go towards adaptivesync, which is a VESA standard, then NVidia won't have a choice. They simply can't afford to ignore it, then.

There will still be two distinct variable sync implementations on the GPUs, but both set of technologies - GSync (they may call it GSync lite, depending on feature set) and Freesync, will interface with the same adaptivesync based monitors.

The real great thing about this announcement is the VESA AdaptiveSync support in the upcoming monitors, and not that whether AMD can best leverage it using the Freesync tech in their GPUs. AdaptiveSync has been around for five years in VESA specs, albeit in the embedded display space. It's a well known set of specs, and having desktop displays supporting it out of the box, is an awesome development.

It's not just picking a video card company, but also picking a monitor company and monitor model. At this point it seems G-Sync is limited to a small number of models, while Adaptive Sync seem to get wider adoption based on the news behind these links.

Freesync is the only thing that will get me to buy a new monitor at this point. Throw in IPS and higher refresh rates than 60Hz with a panel that doesn't have big quality issues and I'll save my pennies to get one. I don't buy monitors often and the manufacturer of what video card I happen to be using can change, so I'd rather get a monitor with such a feature that has the possibility of being supported by pretty much every company (Freesync), than one that is locked down without the possibility of ever being supported by more than one company (Gsync).

There are only 2 graphics card companies..... One supports Freesync, one supports Gsync. Freesync locks you into AMD, Gsync into Nvidia.

I'm failing to see how one is "more flexible" than the other. Unless Nvidia supports Freesync, you're still locked into one company....
