[Fudzilla] BenQ and Viewsonic F[r]eeSync monitors in time for holidays

On the advert, it implies you have to send the monitor back to the manufacturer... you have to cover the shipping costs.

It's a STUPID gimmick.

Considering the manufactor doesnt say anything at all. I wonder who made the claim, and if there is anything to the claim at all. Not to mention the vague term of near future and even then, only for release details. While the advert says buy in confidence and quickly drops any commitment to the actual features. (Tells the buyer to pay and get it done themselves.).

Its misleading advertising.

I tried checking a few other sellers of this monitor. And none of them mentions what Overclockers do.

Overclockers often gets exclusives. They also have an active online community where I'm sure they can answer all the questions. No point in posting accusatory remarks. Just check.

It depends on where you have to ship the monitor back. If it is still inside the UK it will cost no more than a few pounds both ways.

And yes, you can ask overclockers. They respond very quickly, but that would be expecting too much wouldn't it.

The monitor has to have the right scaler and processor in it to support Freesync, this model does as iiyama upgraded them, so for these to work just need a firmware update.

Other monitors will require new hardware though as as such upgrade services won't be offered.

If you read the reviews, it is clear that this monitor has been on sale at OCUK for some time - at least as far back as August. My guess is that they updated the title, e.g., after confirming that the monitor supports the necessary iteration of DP, and presumably after discussing with the manufacturer

Oh and while I'm typing, seems that FreeSync monitors from BenQ and Viewsonic were NOT "in time for holidays," right?

You believed that to mean before Christmas? Lol.... Oh black octagon you're funny.

^i didn't believe or not believe anything. Just happened to notice that today was a holiday and thought I'd question the thread title

They didn't say what year!

(Just kidding.)

Could have been a lot of things happened. Maybe Fudzilla title was clickbait or maybe they were legitimately aiming for a release this year and missed.
