I don't recall that...
The vast majority of us here aren't under NDA not to talk about things like this. The ones that are should know better than to talk about things they shouldn't be discussing. I think that mainly applies to AT staff members, employees of the video card companies, other people who have inside info and have signed NDAs, etc.
There are plenty of reasons why a thread in this particular subforum would get locked (duplicate threads, fanboy flamewars, things going off topic, etc).
It was in this thread, was talking about how much the 200 series cards cost to make:

"Just the hardware bud. That is all that really matters for us when it comes to computers. Nobody should care about how a companies stock plummets or rises except investors. Not dudes and dudettes who are gamers and intrigued by hardware. Granted, there are some investors here and there on these forums, but let them worry themselves to death about a company's financial health.
Focus on the hardware, and the games we all enjoy playing.
The only money we should be concerned with, is bang per buck. And that is final, really."
I was going to reply to try a defend the idea of studying costs and how the business works but the thread got locked. Though looking at it again there were alot of insults flying about on the side which obscured the main discussion.
Wish the mods would state a reason when they lock threads, it is easy to get confused.
The NDA stuff, should not be a reason to ban discussion, its just a mechanism to exert control by suppliers over the coverage they get. A way to reward and punish journalists and the analysts that cover them.

OK- I asked, it's BS yet again.
No validity, the rumor mongerers are wrong. LOL- I wish I could buy stock in NVIDIA related rumors, production seems to be at record levels.
If you ever have any questions about something, please feel free to PM or email us. That specific thread was locked because it took a turn for the stupid with insults and rambling, which was noted on the first post.Originally posted by: rjc

Ok so it was cause of the insults that is cool. Not to derail this thread but maybe sometime if you want a discussion over relevance of business/industry stuff to the actual cards people get to buy i will be keen to participate .Originally posted by: keysplayr2003
In bold ^ Which is pretty much why I said what I said. I mean, how can anyone start insulting somebody over production costs? It's actually ludicrous. Think about it. It would have been fine discussing it, but to get heated over something that truly does not matter to gamers (give me one valid reason why productions costs matter over the final retail price one pays for said performance) at all. Investors, yes. Gamers, not a chance. Otherwise, they are lying to themselves.
Thanks for replying, i only looked at the last page, didnt think to go back and look at the first post. The last page and a half of the thread wasnt so good, dont know if its possible but maybe stop the people using insults in the thread posting further in the thread might work better than killing the thread itself. Otherwise threads can be hijacked too easily and the penalty is on the group rather than the hijacker.Originally posted by: ViRGE

No problem, thanks for the clarification. Personally get very curious how stuff works, including the motivations and limitations behind the actions, rather than just the end resulting product. As for what you may talk about, Keys is not a video mod, so while he's always of great help his word is technically not law here (he's just a member, like anyone else). You guys are allowed to discuss anything related to the video business as long as it's done in a respectful and constructive way. If it doesn't meet that criteria, then we'll close it down.

BFG is also sold in Europe. In fact BFG has a few Europe-only SKUs.

Damn damn damn I was looking forward to getting a BFG Radeon HD 4870 X2 OC with 2MB GDDR5. Can't Nvidia reconsider and let BFG go?![]()
I'm not sure what you mean by that.Originally posted by: Peelback79

Apparently Pudzilla has already gotten (and posted) denials from BFG and NVIDIA.
Another made up story to feed the trolls.

Right, as I said, posted the retraction as if they were the ones who gotthe information first hand, yet they directly quote articles that were published before theirs....
I think sometimes their source is speculation on message boards

Those are some of the companies that sell both flavors.
