Seems like China is having a problem with their historically revered long term planning and their present day addiction with making a fast buck dirt cheap. I recall the days when China had a One Child policy that is now possibly showing its aftereffects whereby since male babies were/are the traditionally preferred choice, many female births were....terminated by unofficial means. If my quick search is correct, China had instituted a Two Child Policy about 10 years ago. Gon'na take a generation or two to get the 'ol birth rate back up again.

Heck it’s hard to call China “communist” anymore. The reality is it’s an authoritarian capitalist state run by a party that used to hold communist beliefs.

Everytime population collapse comes up, everyone dances around the core issue.

WOMEN DO NOT WANT TO HAVE KIDS. I mean, some do, but not nearly the number that were essentially forced to as a result of having no rights or ability to sustain themselves outside of a family unit.

Anywhere, literally anywhere, when women are liberated educated and motivated they are having fewer kids. You can point to the most socialist pro-parent regimes like the Nordic countries and women are having kids at best slightly above replacement rate.

China is no exception. India is no exception. As women are no longer reliant on men for survival, educated in the world, and allowed to pursue their own ambitions... they've realized that kids get in the way and even if they want to have them want to have one or two tops.

Watch out for the increasing blah blah about "population decline/collapse" etc. The plutocrats concerned with population decline know every lord needs his serfs, they're not going to "solve" the issue through some hyper progressive childcare regime or adjusting how society functions to accommodate fewer people.

They're going to want to get women back to a place where they have no choice but to crank out kids again.

I mean is "keep having more kids so you can look after the old people and consume more crap" really long term planning? Because that seems to be what everyone is arguing for!

Edit: Personally I could see fewer people on the globe, taking less shits on the founding eco system we grew up in, sure.

But you'd need a level of relative peace round the globe, not this meta-ww-three we have going on right now. Right now we need bodies for the fights to come. Right? And tech that kills those bodies?

Our world is not build for peace, so we need bodies.

But it'd be cool with less. And free education, UBI, healthcare for all etc... I'd be real cool.

Well as a global leader and economic powerhouse my idea would be....

Maybe get the guys in charge to start considering that constant growth is logically impossible and that they need to start considering alternatives even if it means their friends making a bit less money.

Or they can pay me massive amounts of money to consider the problem and then let me implement my solution?

The Republican Master Plan: Keep their peasants in their place by keeping them dumb, docile, obedient and religiously faithful to their assumptive State run Church. They're more than half way there what with millions of Republicans conditioned into being deaf, dumb and blind to the real world outside of the one their leaders fabricated from a foundation of racism, fascism, isolationism, Russian comradery, disinformation and exploitative neo-nationalism.
