FSCKING Silver fish!

Yuck. This is the fourth one to drop from my ceiling and fall onto my stuff. 3 of them landed in my plate on 3 different occasions after I finished breakfast, quite disgusting.

God, I HATE those things with a passion. Little suckers bite too! I got bit on the wrist once a long time ago. I'll never forget it. The whole joint swelled up and my hand was numb for almost half a day. Bad stuff, those things. Kill them with a vengeance. Twice.

must have been something else. silverfish don't bite/sting. are you sure it wasn't a spider?

People commonly confuse silverfish with house centipedes. I remember reading that silverfish tend to hang out in moist, dark areas, which is why people usually find them in the bathroom/bathtub.

The oringinal poster is probably talking about centipedes, not silverfish.
 
OMG.....

my house is overrun with these suckers. We have centipedes also. We must've bought out home depot's supply of "in home defense" spray (or whatever it's called) to get rid of these things. My only comfort is knowing that silverfish don't bite..but man..i scream like a little girl whenever i see one. 🙁

Hmm, maybe I am confusing the two. Are you SURE silverfish don't bite/sting? I can tell you this; it looked like a silverfish, and within 10 seconds of it biting me, my wrist/hand were on fire. 🙁
 
god i hate those things. all over the place here in texas. and yes, silverfish, just like in the picture. the like to hide in the cabinets and bathroom. saw one run under a pot when i opened the cabinet, and then couldn't find the little bastard to squash it
 
i dont know if these things bite but i do know i find them time to time in my house
i have a relatively new house too

time to fumigate which prob wont get rid of them either
we need a sure fire way of getting rid of these mofos

i was in bed last night and reading a book. i happened to put the book down for a second and looked up a little. here's this small black spider slowly descending from my ceiling right above me. had i not seen it, it probably would have landed near the top of my chest.

scared the sh!t out of me.

For those of you that have silverfish problems, do you have a relatively new house? Or an old one?

When I first moved into my condo (which was built around 1995), I didn't notice any silverfish. Now I'm seeing a bunch (just killed 4 big ones yesterday) lately. I think they might have came aboard when I brought my comic book collection (about 14 long boxes) from my parent's house (which is old and had a silverfish problem). That would piss me off if I introduced silverfish into my place.
 
lol i have a minor earwig infestation and i've only seen 1 silverfish alive in my house. Seems like the relatively harmless earwigs are kicking some silverfish arse.
