must have been something else. silverfish don't bite/sting. are you sure it wasn't a spider?

People commonly confuse silverfish with house centipedes. I remember reading that silverfish tend to hang out in moist, dark areas, which is why people usually find them in the bathroom/bathtub.

The oringinal poster is probably talking about centipedes, not silverfish.

I know what a centipede is. I've probably found 30 silverfish in my lifetime, and only 1 centipede all in my house. I saw the centipede only like 8 months ago, it was in the bath tub... But silverfish, I've seen everywhere.

it's just pictures for pete's sake...but it's making my skin crawl. those are the 2 kinds that i have in my house. Both are creepy as hell but I'm not sure whether or not to be happy that the centipedes eat silverfish.

I've been bit by them before, never had any reaction worse than a regular mosquitoe bite.

edit: err wait, I'm thinking earwig. You sure you were bit by a silver fish? I didn't think they bit.

God I hate that crap. THIS is why I'm never moving south. Every home I've lived in in New York and Pennsylvania I've only seen house spiders and the occasional centipede.

I always see silverfish as a sign people are living in filth

If you don't have crap lying on the floors, if you keep stuff neatly stored, boxed, off the floor - and occasionally spray with pesticide - then there shouldn't be any silver fish in your house
