Jaxidian, he might not. If you talk to one of the guys from the general contracting company, they should know the dead line. There is always a target date dead line, but most of the subs don't know what it is. At a mall in Grand Rapids, MI, the mall manager told us that we wouldn't be able to complete the store by the dead line. Didn't see him a couple of weeks later when they opened 2 days early. 🙂

I'll keep trying and see if I can find somebody with more knowledge. Like I said before, there are some RVs (or maybe trailors but whatever) there that weren't there a couple weeks ago nor were they there anytime before that, so I'm guessing they're for somebody unassociated with the construction company (i.e. Fry's management from some store or corporate).

I can confirm the now hiring sign, noticed it a couple days ago. Meant to post about it here but kept forgetting.

Any news on a Grand Opening date???

If not, someone in the area needs to go fill out an application and find out.

I need to buy a 60" LCD Projection TV soon.

I've been driving by occassionally and I don't have the answer but a few observations that I have made:

1) There are occassionally semi's parked in the back delivering something or other (could be stock, could be furniture).
2) They have curtains up keeping you from looking in through the front.
3) They have large marble balls laying on the ground outside (big balls, looks like marble, about 3-ft tall).

Have not tried asking for an application but will try to do that next time I have a chance to do so.

I walked in and asked a guy (Who had a Fry's badge on) when the store would be opening, he said it would still be a couple months.

Since he didn't give me an exact date, though, I don't think he knew the date.

They had lots of curtains and things up, so you couldn't see anything in the store (except aforementioned curtains). But the parking lot had a good 20-30 cars in it with people I can only assume going in to apply? I don't know why else they would have been there....

I don't know if it's been said here or not, but does anyone remember when this was an Incredible Universe? For that matter, does anyone remember Incredible Universe at all? I went there once right after I had like 4 teeth pulled with my dad and sister - for such a young kid the place was truly both Incredible and Universal. Where else could you look at furninture and then cross the store and play Aliens versus Predator on the Atari Jaguar? Nowhere, particularly not at boring old home! But uh, I guess eventually everybody realized that packing as much unrelated merchandise into one store as you could may not have been the best idea, and the place was left for one of those crummy national car dealerships.

But we'll always have those golden days of wonder, "is there anything not at Incredible Universe?"

I live over here on the illinois/Indiana border, and have been going to the fry's in Downers Grove for the past couple months. I can't wait to be able to save about an hour and a half driving time.

Anyone have an address to the old Incredible Universe?

It was probably 94 or 95 that Incredible Universe opened. I was living in Maryland at the time, but we came to Grandma's house each year for the 500, and the store was having their grand opening on Memorial Day weekend.

I don't know the exact address, but 10000 Kincaid Dr., Fishers, IN, looks awful close on maps.google.com.

From the Indy Star (www.indystar.com)

Within weeks, Fry's Electronics will open its 30th site, a Fishers megastore. The store -- offering 200,000 items...

and

Some mystery surrounds exactly when Fry's will open and what its interior will look like because the privately held company has declined to give details.

Interesting article...

Also...

Workers are converting the former AutoNation used-car dealership into a Fry's Electronics store. The building is located on 9820 Kincaid Drive, which is northeast of 96th Street and Interstate 69.

and

Manuel Valerio, community-relations manager for the California-based store, said an opening date has not been set, but Fry's 30th store should open in a few weeks

Any one know the opening date yet?
Did any AT'er land a job?! I tried to get my 20yr old to apply but he said he was happy with his current job.

I see a LOT of cars in their parking lot every day, but I drive by occasionally and they're still not open. Employee training maybe?

Last guesstimate I heard was mid-april...

good .. maybe i will make my first visit to Fry's when i goto indy for the USGP in June!

Argh! I have plans for that weekend and won't be able to make it... Oh well... Wait for nicer weather before I drive out there from South Bend.

Not too far. It's near I-69 and 96th street, behind the wal-mart. (Corner of Kincaid and N by Northeast Blvd)

The store is open now, it was open at least yesterday, even the sign on 69 says open. If your going to be there this weekend, may not hurt to stop by and figure out the easy way to get back there, and where things are your wanting.

The bad thing is the ad for the grand opening is going to appear in Friday's paper.

The place is HUGE
