I'm interested in running this with the 333FSB, but that would o/c it to something like 3000+. Has the 2200+ known to be capable of that?

All I can give is my personal experience with the 2000+ Thornton and the k7vta3. I just built one last night using pc2700 mem, setting the two jumpers to 333fsb and it runs now as a 2600+.
I'm only using a $4 GC68 hsf with an ambiant room temp of about 72F and the bios is reading 40-41C on idle. I'm pretty impressed.
Here's the info on the chip:
AXDC 2000 DUT3C
AQZFA 0341 XPMW
I'm also curious about the faster Thorntons and whether they can manage the 333fsb.

Bupkus, something is wrong with your set up. I did the same with my 2000+ and it runs as a 2800 with those settings. It actually tests that fast as well. Did you close your L2 yet?

Most likely not. If the L2 bridges aren't closed, the board will see it as a 2600+ 'T-Bred' so to speak. Gotta close it to have the board see it as a 2800+ Barton.![]()

The ECS boards seem to be a hit and miss deal with regards to quality. I have bought a couple the past few weeks. One was bad, the other was rock solid. Both came from Fry's combo deals in San Diego.
Still, they have a good return policy, so it's just time and effort to return if it's a crap board. Unlike some other store return policies *cough* CompUSSR *cough*.![]()

Was your board DOA? I have a couple of those combos I bought Nov. 7th and both worked ok for the os install. I haven't put them through any further testing so I'm wondering if they need to be stress tested before the 14 days are up.

the XP2200+ Thornton combo is back on Sale at Fry's (ends 11/20) I got a bad board the other day from the Manhatten Beach store but it was no problem returning it to get a new one. It is just a hassle going to Fry's and wait in the return line. I test out every board right away when I get home. So far I have not laded an OS onto any of them. If they boot up and I get a post screen I consdier them working. Sometimes a Bios update is needed to the latest versin 8c.
I hope the XP2400+ Thornton combo will come back soon as I would like to get my hands on that processor.
