Frustrated thieves kill man because they can't drive his stick-shift car

ORLANDO - An attempted carjacking turned deadly late Sunday night when car thieves shot the owner as he unloaded groceries.

Kendel Williams, 38, later died at Orlando Regional Medical Center, according to Orlando police.

Williams had just arrived at his west Orlando home around 11 p.m. in the 4600 block of Edgemoor Street when two men came up to him and demanded the car, said Lt. Jim Marchione.

Neither of the men knew how to drive the car because it had a stick shift and instead shot the man, Marchione said.

Police said the suspects are two men in their late teens or early 20s, one of whom was wearing all dark clothing with a hooded sweatshirt. The second suspect was wearing a red, white and black shirt with a hooded sweatshirt on top. Both men ran south from the shooting, according to police.

Williams is the fourth homicide victim in the city this year.

Early Sunday morning, Richard Villegas, 19, was shot near his home in the 5300 block of Hermosa Street. His death marked the third homicide in the city. Police have not made any arrests and have not released a motive in the teen's death.

That really sucks. Time for rehab centers to start teaching people to drive sticks too.

Incredible. Bad parenting, not teaching the kids how to drive a stick.

Had they not killed the man they probably would have gotten away with it. Now theres no doubt they will eventually be caught.

Wouldn't choosing to be a car thief and not know how to drive stick be akin to becoming an accountant and only being able to work with even numbers?

Sucks to hear about the guy though, it is bad enough there are people who don't respect property, but but being dead seems worse than lost property?
