I've never used the crusts from the grocery store, but have:

1) Purchased fresh pizza crust dough from Bertucci's for $.95. However, the location by me shut down about 3 years ago.

2) Purchased dough from Trader Joes. The price was about $1.00. I guess you could classify this as a grocery store. The dough wasn't bad to work with and the crust was quite tasty.

The CPK that was about 3 miles from my home closed down a few years ago. It was quite popular at first, then kind of fizzled out. It was located in an area where the household incomes are in excess of $100K.

HotStuff pizza packs - They are very good, though a bit more work than the traditional store bought.

Mmmm CPK is good stuff. I could really go for a BBQ Chicken right now, or a Chicken Garlic.

I don't see why not.

I always go for Red Baron or Jacks. Can normally get them on sale somewhere 4 for $10 or sometimes less at Sams in a 4 pack for $8 or $9.

frozen pizza is the one junk food I can't bring myself to eat. It's so greasy and bad for you! Absolutely no nutritional value! :p

My wife and I visited Germany for a summer, two years ago. When we got there we arrived on a Friday which just happened to be a little known religious holiday. All the grocery stores in that town were closed. All the grocery stores were also (as normal) closed for the whole weekend. So we were stranded for 3 days and had no chance of buying food. A nice family met us on the train from the airport to our apartment and told us that bad news. But they were so nice that they gave us a bag of groceries from their freezer (which included several frozen pizzas) so we could make it to Monday. This was all before we ever had the chance to see our apartment. We got to the apartment and there was no oven, no toaster oven, and no microwave. The only thing available to cook with was a stovetop and some large cast iron pans. Well I bet you didn't know this, but:

Pan fried frozen pizzas can be quite tasty!

Actually I just tried one of DiGiorno's "Deep Dish" pizzas yesterday. Wasn't all that impressed. It has a layer of crust, then 4 cheeses in the middle, another layer of crust, then sauce, and then cheese. It took "47-49 minutes" to cook! Decent pizza but for the price(~$6.50) it is no way worth it.

Something worth trying are Red Baron "Pizza Slices". You get 2 in a box for $2.50, they're like 2 little stuffed pizzas/strombolis with parmesan cheese and spices on the crust. Very tasty and cooks in 3 mins.

I think Red Baron is the best overall frozen pizza, while Freschetta is by far the most disgusting. Yuk.

(fyi, I am 99% sure the "great value" pizzas at wal-mart are tony's, FWIW)
