front license plates are ugly

legislators make laws not you, put the plate on your car if your state/province requires it

Bullshit. Tell that to a Jew in Germany or a Black in the USA.

Who do you think legislators are SUPPOSED to represent, and often don't? Did OP ever give his representative legislator permission to support such a law or ever even have a say in it? Probably not.

Front plates are normally required in those totalitarian states that rely on traffic cameras for revenue.

🙄 Um, jump to conclusions much? It has been law here long before there were traffic cameras. I moved here in 1990 and it was the law then.

And what's with the OP mounting his plate off to the side? That looks ridiculous.

I think Front License plates are ugly as well. I can also say that the front license plate law here in Texas is a really old one, and it significantly predates traffic cameras. I think they do it so that cars can be more readily identified in case of a kidnapped child or wanted felon/etc. Whenever they get the ability (and follow-through) to make the entire system electronic/wireless, we may see license plates fade into the history books.

Went 5 years in Ohio between the GTO and CTS without one and never had troubles. Now I'm in Georgia and it's not required.

I took the numbers off of my house, I think it looks better that way

Well, it really depends on the vehicle in question. Something like a F250 doesn't look any better or worse with a license plate on the front. On a Vette or Jag XK or even an S2000, it looks a bit ugly, and sometimes it gets right in the way of the lines on the front bumper area.

No way I would want a wireless plate. That could be tracked. I don't want Big Brother tracking me everywhere I go  Not to mention, you coast down a hill, gain a little speed over the speed limit for a moment, bam instant speeding ticket sent your way D:

The theoretical revenue from catching every speeder at every instance probably exceeds world GDP by a couple orders of magnitude.

You can go years without getting pulled over but if a cop wants an excuse to pull you over you've just given him one.

Around here the local cops don't really hassle you for no front plate (unless you're a ricer), it's usually CHP that will get you for that along with illegal window tint.

Must be nice 🙂 Texas is pretty hardcore about it, both my brother and I have been pulled over (not ticketed at least) for no front plates. We both had good reasons though, but we were on relatively short trips when we each got popped, a matter of hours on the road before being stopped.

depends on the car... it looks ugly on yours with it but looks REALLY weird on the two I've had without it. I definitely don't mind having it.

there are front plate brackets that attach underneath the car so that u dont need to drill any holes in the bumper

Fabricate a useful tow hook mount. Find a fabricator somewhere if you need to, lotta them out there looking for more work.
