front license plates are ugly

So after 6+ months of owning my car and driving it around with the dealers plates I finally decided to put my actual license plates on.

I refuse to drill the front bumper so I gave one of those tow hook mounts a shot. No go. Hate this.

So I've decided to drive around without a front plate. Tickets? Possibly. I'll put the tow hook on for the fix it and just pay the fine.

What do you all do? Yes I know some of you are lucky enough to live in states that don't require a front plate.

I've driven without front plates for quite some time. Unless you're in an area with a cop that has an axe to grind, you won't be bothered. Just make sure you aren't part of any stereotypes that cops lookout for.

I live in Irvine, CA. Safest city in california, I used to have no plate on the front as well. Never got pulled over at all. When I worked at the PD a while ago, supposedly the only reason you'll get pulled over for it is if you have a car that's very obviously not CARB legal or if you're somehow looking sketchy. Other than that, they wont bother with you.

I just put the plates on. The last thing I worry about that is on my car. I have had friends get tickets no front plates.

I never put my front plate on my camaro, cops never say anything even when one walks right past it at a gas station.

Best if you're a Korean family or old couple. I rather hate it, but to each his own.

IRVINE!??!?! I hope you're being sarcastic. That place is a total snorefest. I hate driving through irvine anytime between 2pm to 6pm. It's suburbia with the worse possible urban planning imaginable.

That said.. .why not just put the plate on the dash?

I for one drive my Camaro Z28 with no front licence plate in a town crawling with police. I have only been pulled over once and he didn't mention it. They really don't care unless you give them a reason. I am 16, thats why I got pulled over the first time ;P

I'd rather not use my front plates but I see absolutely no reason to draw attention to myself for something so trivial and vane.

I never really understood the need for both front and back plates. Cops do not pull you over usually while you are driving backwards.

/lives in a state that does not require front plates

I also live in a state that doesn't require them but my home state did. I wouldn't worry about but just keep in mind that you are always riding around with a free reason to get pulled over.

I was told by a trooper back home that the only reason they are required is that it makes a good place to hit with laser, makes sense to me.

I don't like front plates either. But, my car already has the bracket on the front, so no sense in removing it. Looks uglier with the bracket riveted to the front end with no plate than having a plate.

However, if I ever get the body work done and new bumper put on to replace the damaged one, I won't put the front plate on and see how it goes.

Nice car. I think you should use it, but put it in a spot where it's the least intrusive. Like the very bottom of the bumper, mounted with some brackets attached below
