I'm converting my desktop to an HTPC this weekend. It's primary purpose is going to be running Windows Media Center and Plex (plus Hulu/Netflix/ESPN), along with some torrents and handbrake encoding. No gaming at all, I've got my new laptop for that.

The system is an i5-2400 on an Asus P8H67-M LE. At the time, I figured it was the right CPU for me, since i had no use for the integrated GPU as a PC gamer. Times have changed and I now find myself regretting not getting the 2500k for the HD3000 GPU.

I have a HD 6850 discrete GPU that I could put in my new case if necessary, but is it? Or with my very limited use scenario, do you think the HD2000 should be sufficient?

HD2000. Utterly silly to put in a discrete GPU that only increases noise and power consumption.

I use the iGPU in the i5-661 for HTPC.

Agree with the posters above. There is no appreciable difference between the HD2000 and HD3000 for light tasks such as video decoding.
