Here's a story, of a man named Brady... ;) J/K

My mom is probably getting married to a guy she met while working on the set of a TV show (she's a stand-in for a lead character and he's a gaffer I think). She has 4 kids at home and he has 4 as well...

That's great about your mom.. congrats to her!

Like I said....we don't know yet. They still have to plan it and stuff.

<< Trust me guys/gals....I am challenging her on this. I've asked her a billion times if he's really the one and is this just infatuation....and all that stuff. I'm not her mother. I'm her daughter and her friend, yes.....but this is something that, as far as we know....they are going to do. So, I either support her or I don't. >>

Fair enough. I still wouldn't support it myself, but I hope it all works out for the best :)

Holy crap. 1 week? That's insane! I mean it's good that they're happy but you cannot know anyone -- AT ALL -- after a mere WEEK. I hope they don't discover things about eachother that they don't like down the line, because damn... 1 week... :Q

That's the shortest I've ever heard in my life.

And an aunt.

So will the sibling rivalry kick in? ;);)

Congradulation!

That's the scary part....One week and one day!!"

I'm sorry, but with all respect due your mum and her new found, no where in hell is that gonna last. :) My opinion and realistic view [based on stats.]. . . .:)

Congratulations Hzl's Mom and Charlie!!!!

Allow me to clarify... I say Congrats to the happy couple for meeting each other and hitting it off so well! That in itself is such a rare and wonderful thing. :)

However, I can't say Congrats for their rash decision to get married. For God's sake, they need some sense knocked into them!! Heather, perhaps you can show your mom this thread and show the overwhelming consensus that the one week engagement is utterly unrealistic and risky???

~EDIT~

<< If its love, then waiting won't change that. If it isn't then waiting won't change that either, but will save a few headaches. >>

I think that would be the most convincing and sound advice if you told that to your mom. I'm really concerned here. :(

Why would they care what we think? I have no idea who these people are, but hell, let them make their own mistakes if that's what's going to happen.

pulse8, I actually considered that fact. Why should they care about the criticisms of a bunch of strangers? Oh well, I figured I'd put in my $0.02 anyway.

My experience... My half-brother and sister-in-law got married after 2 1/2 weeks. They figured that they were experienced and mature enough to know exactly "what they want" in a life partner because they were in their 30's. Boy were they wrong. Now they are stuck with a kid and miserable. Not that this will happen to your mom, Heather, but I bet my bro and SIL didn't see it coming at the time either. Just a thought. :(

<< and we care why?

nate
>>

...And, you're an asshole, why? I'm really sick of your comments, nate.

To everyone else.... Believe me, I'm just as worried as all of you. I've talked to her. They are set on this. Like I said before....I'm not her mother. I can't choose for her. Wierder things have worked. I just hope that if they do go through with it...that it will last. What more can I say? I'm happy that after all these years, my mom is finally happy. If it works, then it's all that much better. If it doesn't....then that's a mistake from which they'll learn. It's not like they're getting married tomorrow. They are going to wait a while. (Not that long...but a little while longer.) So, I'm thinking that if it's not meant to be...something will happen in the meantime that will change their minds.

Hzl,
I was shocked when Julie first told me, but Charlie is the one that I worry about. Your mom seems to be very inteligent and in control of her senses, I'm sure by now she knows what she wants from life, Charlie I'm not to sure about, but then, I haven't had the chance to see them interact in person yet, I'll start watching them on Friday.
BTW, Julie and I have them beat, I met her on a Wednesday and proposed to her on Friday, two days is shorter than a week on MY calendar.

Hzl.. is it possible that Your mom and charlie are getting married only so they can sleep together (old school values???)

Any marriage will take some working and this is no exception..

<< Yes, you read it right, ask Heather she will back me up on this one. >>

I don't usually say this, but you have some serious problems. Proposing to someone after knowing them for 2 days is the most preposterous thing I have ever heard. Are you really that desperate to get married?
