I remember back in late May of 2001, I was parked at the corner of Duane Street and West Broadway, not too far from the World Trade Center. It was a nice afternoon and I was sitting in my car admiring the environment around me. I noticed a guerilla sticker on the "Stop" sign at the southwest corner of the cross-section. It was a silhouette of a simian-looking George W. Bush with a caption that read "One-term President." Of course, that was back in the days when the media used to call Bush "Dubya" in NYC. It was also before September 11. Now, whenever I'm in that area, or the Village above Canal Street, you can't help but see a "Stop Bush," "We the People say no to the Bush Agenda" sign, among others too many (and too profane) to mention. I can also see it in the threads in this forum. Bush's opponent are taking him far more seriously now and are increadibly fearful of him. Today, they listen to his every word with trepidation and disgust. They're continually on the defensive.
What was their original mistake? Lack of respect for their opponent.
