Now, I am not advocating illegal downloads, but as far as the cost of CD's go, someone explain this to me. Unfortunately I have seen "cribs" enough to know how the media stars of today live. Someone please explain to me how a CD costs that much for production? Indeed I realize that there is little cost to actually manufacture the CD. I can do it myself for about 10 cents or less. The case for DVD's is essentially the same one, perhaps a dollar or so at most ot make all of the packaged parts of a DVD. Now, most of the successful CD's and DVD's sell millions of copies. In DVD's case, this is typically after much/all of the costs of actually making the movie have been recaptured from ticket sales while the movie was in the theatre. And typically only top billed actors get "points" on a film where they actually reap a percentage of the profits, rather than the usual case of getting a fixed amount whether the movie bombs or is a blockbuster. Now I do not know for sure, but I would suspect that this is the same for DVD sales, where most actors/actresses do not see more money no matter how many DVD's are sold. I have heard the sob story about how d/lers are not stealing from rich people, but from the hard working crews of movies....Again, this is a load of bullshit. These people get paid no matter if the movie is successful or not. Are we actually supposed to believe that since people are downloading this movie, that all of the crews; salaries will not be paid and their children will go hungry?

Again, I am not advocating illegal downloads. However, does what an actor/singer actually does deserve the payoff that they receive? So many of today's movies spend hundreds of millions on production, only to end up with a TERRIBLE movie. It is my thinking that the only people actually profiting significantly off of DVD sales is the ultra rich stars and the even richer corporations who put their stuff out. And while I do think stealing from them is still wrong, I'm not going to cry about it while they drive around in their 15 hummer H2's.

unless your a communist you have no case. people have the right to sell what belongs to them for whatever they want. nobody has the right to steal it because they think it's too expensive.

you have the right to do without it.

theres a new proggy fer Overnet called DKBooster.

It downloads all ur stuff at an offsite Server in another country. Then you just download ENCRYPTED data from them.

Only thing is, you only have an "inbox" of like 4gbs.

anyone use the new 1.1 version of edonkey? I'm on 1.0 and was wondering if there are improvements or should I just stick with the old one. I'm always a bit paranoid when upgrading my versions of filesharing programs

that's an interesting point

no way that will stand up in court. His neighbor must have hacked into his wireless network and dl'd it.

Since it would most likely be a civil manner, Time Warner only has to prove it was more likely than not him. There is no beyond a reasonable doubt for this kinda thing.

yes. the way of getting caught on bit torrent all depends on your isp. the government or mpaa or riaa does not have the authority to check what you download or w/e from bit torrent. some isp's are way anal about downloads. isp's keep track of everything that goes on from surfing the web to downloads and uploads. depending on the isp, they can report you to the feds if they feel like it. since there are too many people to keep constant track of, isp's basically check out the networking info of those who use up the most bandwidth in a time period. some isp's just give warnings, telling you to stop dling copyrighted materials and for you to delete that file. others tell the feds or w/e and get on ur back about it. time warner is a company who takes illegal filesharing very seriously.
