I bought a kicker L7 10" solo-baric a few months ago. Also bought a brand new kenwood amp.
The amp I got is the KAC8103D. It's a mono amp that is 2-ohm stable. It pumps out 500w RMS @ 2 ohms. Well the L7 holds 1200w PEAK I believe. I built the box from the Kickers site(ported).
Hooked it up parallel so I could get a 2-ohm load out of it since it is a 4-ohm DVC sub. Hooked it up last night without any problems. Sounded great. Was on the road this morning quite a bit and around 2pm(been working all morning/afternoon) the bass just stopped. I pulled over and saw the amp just turning on and off. Everytime the amp would power on the speakers would make a heart throb like sound.
I tested the speakers(with a AA battery) and it shows to be just fine. I unplugged everyhing but the ground, power and remote to see what the amp would do. It just turns on for a second then turns off, over and over.
I've taken the fuse out of the amp and the hot wire(4-gauge) with no success. The amp is brand new.
I have no idea what could have happened? FWIW I put a new battery in a week ago so it can't be that. I'm guessing the amp got fried? I don't see how it could have if that's the case because I ran it at exactly what should have been no problem for either the amp or sub.
Any ideas?
Also, I registered it with Kenwood.com today. Does anyone know if I get a 1-year manufactured warranty? Bought it off eBay.
