Fresno Police shooting and killing unarmed Dylan Noble

If someone is holding you hostage with a gun in your back do you want the police to only use deadly force if they see the gun? Or would you rather they assume there is a gun?

WTF? If someone is holding a gun to my back you're goddamn right I wouldn't want some cop playing hero if he isn't in a position to see exactly what was occurring. 😵

Was justified until dude was on the ground. Even then it falls under the fear for my safety b.s.
Guy honestly did this to himself though. He was reaching like he had a pistol. Most likely a suicide by cop.

Cops are allowed to kill the victims and then they pin the murders on the person who committed the crime.

Both were bad shoots by Fresno Police.
The police had other options which they didn't use.

Also when the guy is down why pump more lead into him.
A bad shoot now becomes murder.
This has to be fixed.

Thanks. Personally I saw the incident as a guy trying to commit 'suicide by cop' and the police seemed incapable of figuring this.

What I saw was he was reaching into his waistband even after he was on the ground.

I have no issue with it. He received what he was asking for.

PoPo's Law dictates that Police have a license to kill; Police have loved one's waiting for them at home.

Act accordingly.

One of them should've had a Taser and hit him with it first before deploying deadly force which is supposed to be the last and final of the 5 levels of force used against a person.

That would have been a great tool. Unfortunately, not all departments allow Tasers to be used and not all officers are trained on them or have the ability to carry them.

This was Wednesday, and he ain't Black

This is bullshit. He was ordered to drop, and he didn't.

News cycle NOT derailed from France, but nice try.

Dewd clearly didn't want to live or care if he did. However, there was plenty of time between the first volley and second for the Cops to subdue him. They didn't even try and that is the worst part.

Remember, to cops (and their apologists), they think "it's better that 100 unarmed men get shot and killed rather then one cop possibly get shot at".

Why take a chance when you basically have full legal immunity to murder anyone? So that's what they do. And y'all let them get away with it.

They don't care. And as long as people are like the posters in this thread, and continue to give cops a pass on killing people, nothing will change. The cops know they can get away with murder, so have no fear about doing it.

Until they actually get help accountable, nothing will change. Of course, to many people, including many in this forum, cops murdering people is more of a feature, and thus something they don't want to change.

I'm going to put this fatal police shooting here because it speaks to what I believe to be an overall problem with under-trained cowboy cops and because I don't want to start yet another thread for it.

Officer James R. Burns admitted to investigators that he shot into a vehicle not knowing if the person driving was the suspect he had been called to an apartment complex in northeast Atlanta to help investigate, according to the internal affairs file into the shooting death of 22-year-old Deravis Caine Rogers.

As for the two shootings linked to in this thread, it is my opinion, from the safety of my keyboard, that the first one was unnecessary. The second one was totally unjustified.

Good restraint by the police. 2 shots to drop him after many, many warnings to show his hands. He kept reaching for his waistband on the ground, one more shot, kept reaching, one more shot.

Why can't we make it policy to where you have to see a gun for them to shoot?

People can draw an object from their clothes pretty fast. Too fast to determine if it were a gun or not. This would be hard to implement. Police have to face threats to their life a lot more than you or I. I think a better alternative would to research better non-lethal ways to stop someone. In this case what would be the problem if one officer had a stun gun and the other had a shot gun. Stun first then shotgun second if needed. This situation it would have worked but if it is just one officer there then I would rather be holding a gun.

Based on the evidence we have so far, seems like a good shoot. Although a tough one. I would have liked to have seen one officer have their taser out, generally there should be one lethal and one less than lethal option out with two officers. If available they could have tased him when he did not comply.

But as it is the cops gave him many warnings, he declined to do what they told him to do. You can't expect someone to keep a hand behind their back out of sight, or keep reaching for something. Expecting the cops to wait to see a gun is unrealistic and also unfair. There are several videos that have compilations where a perp has a gun out faster than the cop can react simply because they waited. I read elsewhere he said "Fuck my life", not "I hate my fucking life" but who knows. I'd be interested to see if he had alcohol or drugs in his system that may have impaired his judgement.

If you're talking about when it happened, this actually happened June 25th, about three weeks ago. But you're correct, he's not black. If so there would have been a thread here day 1 and the main stream media would have been all over it. But it doesn't fit their agenda and desired ratings. I believe this is the first thread about it here too, if black there would have been one right after, in my opinion.

You know people don't comply with instructions all day long but is that a legitimate reason to shoot them multiple times? This guy was in a world of hurt after the first two rounds struck him and was fumbling around in agony when the cops pumped the last two into him. There was no reason that he couldn't have been subdued in his condition without any additional gun shots.

Decades of police brutality against black people and now you are mad that they are hogging all the attention when murdered by police.

Since the person shot was white, there might be a token effort to punish the cops, instead of the case being ignored entirely.
