No one wants you not to enjoy your freedom. We'd like you to display a modicum of respect for those also expressing their own freedom.

I know you feel persecuted, but it's not you, it's your poorly articulated views and their general lack of any justification.
Here is the problem, its not freedom because the
MEN FORCE WOMEN TO WEAR IT TO OPPRESS THEM AND ITS NOT REQUIRED IN THE QURAN, WHY DON'T MEN COVER UP

What IS banned is the Niqab, Burqa and baklava, all three for the same reason and yet not ONE idiot is screaming about how they are impinging on the freedom of baklava wearers.
Not to nitpick (though steering the conversation to a lighter side), but the correct term is "balaclava".

"Baklava" is a delicious food, and I sure hope it doesn't get banned anywhere in the world... :)

LOL, well they can't wear those either if they cover the face. ;)

Not this idiotic lie again......

The Hijab as traditionally worn is NOT banned in France, the article does it best to confuse the reader though by saying that if they use the Hijab to cover their face then it's not allowed. It's a stupid article purposefully written to make stupid readers think that the veil is banned.

I did a google search and not ONE picture showed a woman wearing a hijab that covered her face.

What IS banned is the Niqab, Burqa and baklava, all three for the same reason and yet not ONE idiot is screaming about how they are impinging on the freedom of baklava wearers.
There is a ban on the Hijab on French Public School Grounds, but not a complete outright ban on them in France. The school ban still prevents Muslim children from attending public french schools though.

The world needs more of these to throw them into more sissy fits to drive home the point how mentally juvenile and dangerous these losers are.

Maybe these cartoonists are trying to provoke Muslims into doing something so over the top, so violent and vile, that the native French people, and other native Europeans, will finally wake up to the threat they are, and expunge them from their countries before it's too late.

If you tip-toe around Muslim feelings, for another decade or two, then it becomes too late, numbers are too great, European culture too far gone... but maybe, just maybe if they can be provoked into enough horrors, the liberals of Europe will snap out of it and stop their march toward cultural and ethnic suicide. This, however, may be too much to hope for.

This all needs to come to a head before they take even more root in the civilized world.

Great quote from journalist Thierry Chervel:

"In the confrontation with Islamism, the Left has abandoned its principles. In the past it stood for cutting the ties to convention and tradition, but in the case of Islam it reinstates them in the name of multiculturalism. It is proud to have fought for women's rights, but in Islam it tolerates head scarves, arranged marriages, and wife-beating. It once stood for equal rights, now it preaches a right to difference – and thus different rights. It proclaims freedom of speech, but when it comes to Islam it coughs in embarrassment. It once supported gay rights, but now keeps silent about Islam's taboo on homosexuality. The West's long-due process of self-relativisation at the end of the colonial era, which was promoted by postmodernist and structuralist ideas, has led to cultural relativism and the loss of criteria."

Yes that is well-said. The left has long had a double-standard with regards to Islam and it's ironic that it ends up defending deeply conservative ideas when it defends Islam.

That's because in the liberal mind there is a sort of rock paper scissors game in moments like this.

Let's call it Race, Feminism, Freedom

If white guys somewhere are impinging on the rights of any other group, or women, or gays, or oppressing a different religion in any way, liberals will never have the slightest problem calling them out on it and mobilizing quite forcefully against this injustice.

But we see that considerations of not wanting to sound or appear racist trump all others. So much so that Islam is able to be the most egregiously anti-woman, anti-gay, and anti-freedom force on the planet and get a complete pass from liberals because it is primarily associated with non-whites.

The same feminist who will get a mighty froth of indignation and anger at an American white male saying women might not be as well suited to certain jobs as men, will make endless apologies for an Arab male who forces his wife to wear a burqa and kills his daughter for dishonoring him.

We'll hear all about how he's from another culture, yadda yadda.

Either this white guilt, self-hatred, inability to call a spade a spade finally ends... or the west effectively commits suicide via lax immigration and self-dismantling.

Let's put some of these myths regarding "left" to rest, ok?

Look at the journals who approve of Charlie Hebdo (in itself a left of the centre magazine!), and look at the leaning of those who criticize the cartoons:

If you're still spewing nonsense about "leftists", you're clearly not letting facts get in the way of your political prejudices....

Anita I've been a die hard super liberal for 99% of my life, only just having cleared my vision recently.

I know exactly the mindset. Of course there are exceptions and what it means to be a leftist varies from country to country, some countries scarcely have anything that can be called a "rightist" for instance so the whole spectrum is adjusted.

But I am quite familiar with how issues like Islamic terrorism are framed and thought about by leftists.

So last time we had these riots over blasphemous cartoons our news never reported on Muslims trying to have peacefully and non violent reactions. This time there are several reports about Muslims saying yes this film is horrible but it does not excuse violence.

Is there culture getting better in dealing with this or is our news just reporting it this time?

Do you really read the news? I try so hard to like you because you seem like a an upstanding gentleman, but you just don't seem to really grasp how much really goes on in the world.
