Yes, most people have heard of Usenet.
Now, if they don't get linked to some "Usenet For Noobs - Piracy Made EZ" post here's what happens:
1) They hear about Usenet
2) They open up Outlook Express
3) They log on to their ISP usenet service
4) They cant figure it out.
5) ...
6) No profit.
Now, when someone posts a thread like this:
1) They get a good client
2) They pay a small amount to subscribe to a decent provider
3) They pirate 50000GB of software at full speed, with no sharing.
4) They tell everyone else
5) ...
6) Profit!
7) Usenet shows up on CNN
8) RIAA and MPAA start making legal progress towards suing downloaders or providers of Usenet.
9) No more profit!
