You're violating the basic rules of not keeping common knowledge a secret. Next thing you know the riaa will realize this common knowledge is a secret and bust everyone. So lets get this straight once and for all - this is common knowledge that *must* remain neither common, nor knowledge.

You are giving the averager luser too much credit.

Yes, most people have heard of Usenet.

Now, if they don't get linked to some "Usenet For Noobs - Piracy Made EZ" post here's what happens:

1) They hear about Usenet
2) They open up Outlook Express
3) They log on to their ISP usenet service
4) They cant figure it out.
5) ...
6) No profit.

Now, when someone posts a thread like this:

1) They get a good client
2) They pay a small amount to subscribe to a decent provider
3) They pirate 50000GB of software at full speed, with no sharing.
4) They tell everyone else
5) ...
6) Profit!
7) Usenet shows up on CNN
8) RIAA and MPAA start making legal progress towards suing downloaders or providers of Usenet.
9) No more profit!

Did everyone enjoy the free trial that didn't already have newsgroup access or it was their first time trying?

Edit: And to everyone who is about to reply as a smart butt I could care a less. You people make me sick.

EvanGn you really need to STFU and keep with 1 thread.

If anyone for a SECOND thinks that RIAA/MPAA etc is "unaware" of NGs you're a damned fool.
