Yea. The thing is though, this stuff only gains traction if you make a big deal out of it. Everyone could have just ignored it and it would still be a backfire. Not everyone is going to agree on whether it is too far or not, but calling attention to it as over the top because it offends 'you' <general public> doesn't make it go away, it brings it into the limelight. The problem with people who are easily offended, they are usually the same people who are in everyone's business telling them what they can and cannot do rather than just ignoring it and moving on.

She's a has been perhaps, but not failed. She had a successful enough career that most of us had at least heard of her before this. Can't say I ever found her funny though.

No, I think Kathy understood how completely irrelevant she had become. She went from the D List to the F- List and was dangerously close to winding up at the Hollywood "who the hell are they?" table with Pauly Shore and the kid who played Anakin Skywalker in the first prequel. This is her desperate Hail Mary attempt to get back into the public eye by any means possible. And it worked, she got herself another 15 minutes. A year from now she might have to do something even more shocking to remind people that she's still alive. Maybe she'll appear in some Brazilian snuff porn.

If celebrity is your key metric, she's evidently popular enough to host on CNN so what does that make you in comparison?
 
I would equate this action to be roughly equivalent to people making targets of Obama's face. If someone is outraged about Trump's head I would expect them to be equally outraged over Obama targets.

"Advocating violence" and "Hate Crimes" are both way to far into the realm of "RightThink" and "Future Crime" in their current form. All of those laws should be abolished as unconstitutional, immediately. Remember, we are not talking about the combination: specific threat of violence, motive, timing, opportunity, date, etc., but rather guesswork combined with bad or non-politically-correct words.

1st Amendment gives you the right to publish technical papers on CPU design, it also give you the right to be a moron.
