This should get a sticky. How is Pristontales?
It's pretty fun if you ask me, though I haven't played any other MMORPGs so I can't compare it to anything. There's always lots of people on to trade and party with. Often times the servers are full, especially on weekends. The map is pretty large, lots of places to go but not much in the way of quests. It's also a fairly large download for dialupers at over 360MB but it still plays alright so broadband isn't necessary. Graphics aren't anything special, you're stuck at 800x600 and it doesn't work with FSAA very well yet.

Being free makes it easy to look over it's flaws. 🙂

Look here for abandonware games. There are tons of them worth playing, even if they are at least a few years old.

Wow, that's an extensive site! I looked through it though, and most of the games are so old that frankly, I wouldn't play them, or they weren't free. Some of the downloads are warez too I believe, like System Shock 2 and FreeSpace 2 (correct me if I'm wrong, and these games are really free).

Try free downloads of Warbirds III, Dawn of Aces III, or Armored Assault here:

Total Sims web page

They are all online pay to play games, but they let you play single player offline also against AI opponents without creating an account.

Also, not free but almost, EB Games B&M has European Air War marked $9.99, but it rings up at $4.99 for some reason. Older flight sim, but still gets nice reviews for it gameplay.

Try out the text adventures. I couldn't stop playing them last year.

As a former Moderator and Subspace player yes its a great game. 😀

You know, once while playing Extreme Games a long time ago, I saw a ship outside the map area on my radar, so I followed it for a minute or so. On a whim, I "Thored" it. 😀

Turned out it was a mod, and he specced me. :disgust:

It was fun, though. 😀

Well he shouldnt of specced you for that. There was a map we had where players could drop flags outside the map and we mods would have to go get them. So what if you thored him he could just use /warpto and go back out. I think its funny you did that and I would of laughed if that happened to me.

Also take a look at Dink Smallwood. It's pretty good for a free RPG. Don't expect Bioware level stuff though.

Dinksmallwood.org has more information along with files and mods.

Man, I can't believe I forgot this game! I spent tons of time playing this a couple years ago! Thanks.

I played it for a while too. It was pretty fun, especially considering that it's free.
