The key for the "Evaluation" copy of Vista worked just fine for me on a full retail version of Vista. I just ordered the Windows Anytime Upgrade disc from Microsoft for $7 and was able to upgrade by XP system to Vista and activate with no problem.

Cool, I'm set then. Got Ultimate retail from a MS Employee for $55 :) So now between my laptop and desktop, I'm good to go with that key!

Does anyone know if there is a time limit past which you cannot download this software? I was planning on no using mine for maybe 6-12 months until I get a new laptop.

Just down load the files and burn them to a CD. Than you can load them when you get your laptop and reg on line. The files that you down load are just install files.

Yeah, other people earlier in the thread have had luck using that key on a retail version of Vista for full access. That's what we're talking about.

I've had success with my Vista preview key using a Windows Vista RTM (5600) MSDN DVD. It's fully activated but I see no sign of expiration. I have a feeling it will expire come June 2007 like all the Beta2/RC1/RC2 keys

Other people have changed their system clock to 2010 and still it did not expire. I have it installed (used a ultimate disc I borrowed) on my wifes laptop with no signs of expiration. Gotta love free software!

Actually, that's untrue regarding the public sector. All other tracks were signing in at a common table. but when i took my public sector ticket up there, i was sent down to the room where the public sector track was occurring and they handled their own tickets there. For some reason, there was a large box with the goodie bags there, and when i asked when i would get mine, they tried to tell me they could not hand them out as the track was for govt employees (didn't even get a wristband), but when i showed on the ticket i was a preacher, and therefore couldn't be close to being a govt employee, the guy reluctantly handed me one of the bags. I left the room, came back in with a friend about 4 minutes later, and the box was gone and they were refusing to give him a bag. They gave him an email address instead. At the end of the session, all of the evals for the public sector track were handled strictly by the public sector people (except mine, since i had a bag with teh card and i could get my software) while the other tracks were all done in one large mass at the main registration tables. What hte quotation above was true for every other track except for the public sector

Heh. I got lucky... must have been in the same room as you.

I was hanging around after the course in the room, trying to call into the office and talk to my boss. Saw a couple of people up at the table... not being obnoxious at all, but giving the people a little bit of a hard time over not getting the bag.

I gave a sort of sympathetic smile to one of the ladies with a "what can you do" look.

A minute later she came over and asked if I was attending any of the afternoon sessions. I said "no". She then asked me to give her my jacket, and meet her in the hall in 2-3 minutes. I gave her my coat, and sure enough, 3 minutes later she met me outside, handed me my coat with a smile, and said "have a nice day". The bad was tucked inside the coat.

:)

Hey - would anyone have any insight on this?

My HD crashed and I installed Vista Ultimate again - only this time when I attempt to activate, it states the product key is already in use (from the previous install)

What to do? Call Microsoft?
