A lot of people have been putting these up for sale on eBay.

I watched the next 12 going off.

Every single auction has been pulled - even after it has been completed. They simply disappear from my watch list.

Anyone have any idea why they are being pulled?

Dude, is this already a TL,DR thread? Go back one page around 07FEB and this very topic is discussed there.
They're not for resale and MS is enforcing it.

A friend of mine attended the Small Business presentation in California and a fellow who was obviously an expert, asked a couple intelligent questions and ended with a tirade that this single installation nonsense that MS was promoting as a full version of Office/Groove was in face, Bait and Switch.

When this fellow emotionally hollered this out, the audience erupted in applause.

The presenter said he would talk to Corporate about this.

Hummmm.... I wonder if this happened anywhere else and if MS might reward complainers with an actually full version?

I hope what was said about Office not allowing reinstalls is an error on the part of Microsoft.
All they really need to do is put the License Keys they supplied in the proper files so the
Microsoft Validation / Activation computers will know these are legit, fully licensed copies of the program.

Me I always make an Image of the computer with Norton Ghost ... anytime I had to restore my Image, I have
never had to reactivate any of the programs on it .. including Windows

Hmm, I wonder if this is the same guy who was in Sacramento? This guy also called it bait & switch. SOME people agreed with him, lots applauded him, but one lady stood up and claimed that he didn't speak for everyone in the room... VERY FEW applauded her.

How could we tell if the event was a "New Day" event or just "Across America?" I went to the Cleveland one and saw signs for both, but I did not receive a Vista eval or key in my bag.

No Vista given out at most events. Office 2007 and Groove 2007 were given, but you had to turn in an evaluation sheet, and give them the "holographic" busines looking card in the bag.

Yeah, that's what it was like in Cleveland. I was just wondering where people came up with the whole "New Day" vs "Across America" differentiation.

So, in reading the preceding posts, is it safe to bet that:

1. The Vista code that accompanied the Demo disk can be used with a (any?) retail Vista disk for a full and legit retail install of 32-bit Vista Ultimate?

2. The Office 2007 code is a full and legit retail product, though limited to a single site installation (as opposed to three sites?)

Thanks Folks-

I got MSO 2K7. I have installed in on a desktop and laptop without any issues.

4 weeks of waiting and I am not going to the Valley Forge kickoff today the roads are a mess. Afraid I would make the drive 2 hours and it would be canceled. If anyone goes today let me know how things were. I will try to find another one but all that are close to me are prob full by now.....
If anyone goes today ask them if they have any webcasts that they will offer the software or if anyone gets a chance at an extra grab one for me...
Well if anyone makes the drive let us know how it was.

Likewise .... I signed up back on December 4th and now this ..... what a bummer. ..... I'm kinda shocked if they still have this event with reported accidents on the main roads leading to the event (not even thinking of how bad the side roads are compared to a turnpike!)

Wanted to go but had to cancel due to 2 feet of snow where I live. I spent 2 hours this morning snow blowing and shoveling.

Spent 2 hours plus yesterday doing the same thing and helping someone that got stuck in the street.

Nice that they emailed me saying that the event was still going to happen but understood that many would not make it due to blizzard.

I could have risked the hour drive or 2 hours in these conditions but decided it wasnt worth it. I really wanted to go but in the end it just wasnt worth it. Maybe if they offered to pick me up, lol.

Well, Albany NY got 3 feet of snow last night. MS still sent an email saying they were aware of the weather but the event was still going on. No way I could have made it in to it with the roads the way they are (IE: not plowed).

Anyone happen to go to the Albany one today? How was the turnout?

After I had to cancel Sacramento I asked real nice if they could kick down a comp copy anyway and here is the reply:
The free software is given to attendees as a gift in appreciation for coming to the event presentation. So, regretfully I have to tell you that I will be unable to oblige your request.

Please keep in mind that Microsoft hosts events throughout the year; details can be found at http://www.microsoft.com/events/default.mspx. Those events specific to Microsoft Across America (Connections, TS2, TechNet, Momentum, and MSDN) can be reviewed at http://www.microsoft.com/mscorp/acrossamerica. And, admission is free for our Microsoft Across America events.

So, come on folks, take 'em off eBay and donate them to our respected AT members :)

Send a message to the local MS office and ask what arrangements they will be making for those who could not attended due to the weather. You might even suggest that they do a Webcast for customers who were already registered.

...just an idea.

I'd appreciate one if anyone wants to send me one, I'll pay C+S. MS will probably not hold another training in Albany for a few years.

I went to the event in Rochester, NY and got the Resource Kit CD with the product keys for Office and Groove. However, I'm not completely sure on one issue.

I don't have a computer (PC1) which I'm planning to put this copy of Office on. Am I allowed to put it onto another computer (PC2) I have right now and use it for a couple of months, and then once the computer it's intended for is here, uninstall it from PC2 and install it again onto PC1? I'm guessing yes since this a full version of Office 2007 Pro.

On a similar note, am I allowed to use the same copy on 2 machines if one is at my business, and another's at home, and I work at home on the same documents I do at work?

Your input is greatly appreciated.

Thank,

-- Alex

Alex,

I was told by the presenter that it is for a ONE TIME ONLY install which is a real Bait and Switch in my book. (This means it is NOT a "FULL" Version but I guess it is a FULL "INSTALL."

I think I even verified this on the MS page after hearing it.

HOWEVER,

RKS on 2/14 in this forum says he successfully installed it on notebook and a PC without a problem.

So I have no idea really what is going on. Maybe MS is relaxing that single install with no enforcement of the rules. Who knows.
