Is this still valid? I no longer see anywhere in the linkk where it states that you get a copy of Office 2007. Someone posted that it is stated in the second bullet point.

All I see now is "receive valuable resources....." Has this changed? Valuable resources could be anything

Look under the heading - "Why Attend?" in big bold letters you'll see "FREE copy of Microsoft Office Professional 2007 and Microsoft Office Groove 2007"

I also read somewhere that this will actually be a download and that an access code will be given out at the end of the day (rather than handing out retail/NFR versions)

"The free software will be distributed as a downloadable file. To download the software, an access code will be required. The access code must be claimed onsite at event"

"Giveaway: Limit one of each giveaway per registered attendee, per day, while supplies last. Giveaways must be claimed on-site at the end of the event."

I _JUST_ got back from the Tampa event. I must say it was pretty neat. I enjoyed myself. You do NOT have to wait until the very end to receive Office 2007. And actually if you are lucky/fortunate you can score more than 1 copy, like myself. I got 3 copies. I will be uploading pictures soon. Food was surprisingly sufficient as well, although the drinks go F-A-S-T, FAST.

how did you manage to get 3?

Believe it or not, but they had dozens of them on a shelf alongside "Partner Reference" DVDs free for all to grab...and a lot of people did. It wasn't quite obvious what they were. On the outside all it reads is "Launch 2007 Resource Kit" so I can easily see how someone might have f#&$ed up and thought they were meant to be handed out with the Partner Reference DVDs (did I mention they are strikingly similar except in size?). But yeah, I actually had two of these bad boys within an hour of being there. I opened up one of them, saw the serials for Office 2007 and Groove 2007 but I wasn't sure if it was the real deal. I just couldn't believe they'd be out in the open. Never-the-less I was ballsy enough to go grab another (I wasn't greedy, I honestly could have taken a dozen or so without anyone noticing).

That being said, I might actually just go to the Orlando one, and if I see the same thing I'll grab a dozen and leave right then 😀

Oh, and just a tip to everyone. If you plan to go, and you don't want any hassles. For the love of God, GET THERE ON TIME! You will not believe how incredibly long the line was for people who were showing up late. If you get there on time, for me "on time" means 10-15 minutes early, then you'll have absolutely ZERO hassles. But those people that showed up 15-30 minutes late had to wait in a line a mile long. I wish I would have snapped a picture of the line, but I felt pretty bad for the people and didn't want to seem like I was amused at their misfortune (even though it was probably their own fault). I hear a lot of grumpy people towards the end.

By "on time" does that mean by 7:30?

FWIW, my confirmation email states that you get a 6 month Vista trial as well. Anyone received this at an event?

Keynote Area
I found this interesting...
Free food mayhem...I had the roast beef w/ cheddar on onion roll. Not too shabby!
Why I think I was able to score the extra two copies...see how close they look?
This is pretty much what the free stuff boils down to...There were extras but nothing to write home about...two bags maybe?

The retractable cat5 cable is from Symantec. I believe they also gave us a coaster--I mean, a copy of Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition. The IT Professional Resource Kit in the center is a pack of 4 DVDs with videos and demos of Office 2007

Umm... my confirmation doesn't look like this at all. It doesn't say anything about a "special thank you for attending". It says this...

To those of you who have already gone --

a) What do you mean by the long lines? What's the line FOR? I've
already registered and reserved a spot online, and I have a printable
ticket from their email registration confirmation message. So do I need
to wait in some potentially long line on site as a ticketholder, or is that
only for people who have not registered online?

b) What's the story with the Office & Groove code they give you? I already
have Office 2007 Pro & Office Groove 2007 install media, I only need activation
keys. Is the code they give you on-site the real activation key that you'd get
with any MS Office software, so I could just use it to activate an install
from real distribution media and be good to go with no added downloads / steps?

c) How'd you get the 180 day Vista trial info? What does it give you, a product
install key or a web site to get a trial download and key or what?
What's the web link that tells about this trial? I didn't see such a link in
the event registration confirmation messages I've gotten so far...Is it
detailed in something physical they give you at the event?
What version(s) of Vista are offered for this trial? 32 bit? 64 bit?
Home Premium, Business, Ultimate?

a) i think it all depends how popular is your events, the one in NY have "A LOT" of peoples. i arrive at 8am, and the line was LONG, yes, even you register online, u still need to "check-in" with your email and a form of id and that check in line is long.

b) in the resource kit, it have 2 key one for office and one for groove. I haven't dl and use it, so can't tell u.

c) someone from other site claim there is some demo vista disc onsite, but i didn't saw it.

I don't really have the time to scour through all the posts, but how long after the registration do you get the free cd keys?

Reason is in Houston it is 8AM til 5PM. That's like 9 hours. In 9 hours I can make way more money than what a copy of Office Pro 2007 costs.. Not boasting about that, but I'm a LAMP guy, not an MS guy, so I don't really care much to see the events, though Office 2007 would still be nice for my Windows boxes.

You have to at the very least stay until Lunch. But apparently, from looking at what someone just posted above, not every event serves lunch. From what was said at the Keynote speech, there are 15 LARGE events. It just so happened that Tampa was 1 of 15. They had Starbucks coffee and danishes for a Continental Breakfast and good sandwich meal with chips, an apple, a cookie, and a pickle.

I was at the Tampa one. Did you get something in your bag saying "Windows Vista Ultimate PreRelease?"

This question is for everyone. It came with a cd-key and no where on it does it say it is evaluation software. Is this a full version I can use and get updates etc. from MS?

No I didn't! 🙁 Can't say that I'm totally pissed that I didn't get it, I did get 3 copies of Office. I will try again at Ft. Lauderdale.

What is the EMC2 thing next to the green K2.Net ball and the 'pen shaped' thing on the t-shirt?
