yep, free is hot and many that want this might not know about it. thanks Smokin gun!

waitman

Yep, it's hot. Would have had to change in December anyway. Better now than to wait until everyone has to change from 6.0 to 7.0. Thanks for the tip.

Keep in mind December 31st is the last day for support of AVG6. As far as I understand that it means there will be no virus definition updates for it anymore.

Really? I do that all the time... hmm.

(Run without AV protection that is - get your minds out of the gutter!)

I hope that's true.. AVG6 free ed. was a bit of a pig.

NAV used to always slow my computer down, and macafee did big time too. This avg release found trojans that neither found. I love it.

This is hot, especially since word has it AVG will alter is support for free products at the end of the year. thanks, Smokin Gunn.

(Not hot? people voicing their worthless opinions. No thanks, Battleangel3222.)

site don't seem to load or/and slow as hell, I'll use this instead of the OEM PCcillin that came with my soltek 754 mobo, it keeps asking for registration and basically the protection is crap until you buy the full version, keeping my fingers crossed for this.

WooT !! 'Bout time, I have been waiting for 3 weeks now to sell some refurb PCs knowing that my AVG6 version would be worthless by January. Now the site is getting hammered, but I am done with both rigs as soon as I get AVG7 loaded on them.

How would you rate this against the free AV from Avast. I have been using Avast and have been very happy.

Even if I would not change, it helps to know several choices in order to be able to share GOOD info with other friends who don't know what to do.

I know it is heresy to say it but I would even pay $10 a year for Norton if they didn't make it so darned difficult to renew (if you only want to pay $10). It is always $20 or so yet you can get a new version at discount for $10. Then you have to apply for rebates or uninstall first etc. Who needs that crap?

Eh I agree (though mcafee is the worst IMO). I never liked AVG that much or thought it was any better, so I just use Norton which I get for free anyways.

I also switched to antivir because I was always having trouble connecting to Girsoft's servers for the updates.

Hot because any other solution is a rip off. I have used AVG a few times on my brothers computer to clear things, seems to work well. NAV is such a resource hog.
