I don't think the charge even had time to be posted to my bank account. I got a call within 1.5 hours of ordering, and I subsequently logged into my OD account and the cancellation of the order was already completed. I haven't checked my bank account yet, but I'm sure no charges have gone through (although, no biggy for me if they did, since my total on 2 chairs and some paperclips, AC, was $0.81)

Just curious... what time did you order?

yep, getting the in-store coupon only. but when i try pick up instore, it's still giving me that error.

//krunk (^_^x)

went to pick it up, manager came out and said "That Fat Wallet Coupon has been revoked and so your order is canceled". Apparently they got an email from corporate office about fat wallet codes....

my debit card was charged and shows at my bank, I called cust service and said I would get a refund in 3-5 business days

Yes! I just got mine from OD 😀

Walked in with the printout, was given the "we need the coupon" talk, had a mini acting session, walked out with the chair 🙂

Dead for me too...congrats to those who were able to get their chair(s) before OD got wind of this.

Clearly one of those "you snooze, you lose" deals...given that many of those who were able to pick up their chairs in-store did so almost immediately after they placed their online order.

Notwithstanding OD's right to cancel orders that were made "contrary to any applicable offer, discount, promotion, or coupon"--what's BS (IMHO) is that it's not bad enough that they won't honor the coupon code because it's invalid....they--in all likelihood--probably won't even honor the $39.99 price of the leather chair (it's now listed at $89.99 on OD's website). Not that I would probably buy one even at $39.99 but that's besides the point... 😉

Anyone know if the OD corporate email mentioned anything about not honoring the $39.99 price either? From what I read from other posts, all I got from it was that they weren't gonna honor the coupon code...was the chair recently on sale for $39.99? If so, interesting that earlier this morning their website listed it at that price, and now it's listed at $89.99; what kind of sale ends in the middle of the day (and I'm asking this semi tongue-in-cheek)?

I ordered at about 1 PM

Dead deal. Just came from OD to pickup my order and they wouldn't give me my order saying that they got a letter from corporate saying to not honor their own coupon.

Then they had the audacity to tell me that they can't refund the chair mat. After yelling at the idiot, they finally gave my money back.

lol, they cancelled my order by calling me 1.5 hours later.

Hmm. My status says "delivery refused."
Does that mean they tried to deliver and I wasn't there? They didn't leave a note.
Or does it mean they refuse to deliver it?

i did the in-store pickup and got the chair. the manager said i was the only one who got the deal, and they called everyone else to let them know it expired. i got lucky for once!

I just checked the status online.
Status: Delivered

and this is what the confirmation email says

Thank you for ordering from Office Depot Online.
We received your order on 02/23/2006, and processed it at BUFORD CSC.
Your order number is !@##%!##!#-!@#. We will deliver your

dunno, maybe I got lucky for once 😀

Ordered with SHIP option -- was shipped via UPS.

Don't understand OD's attitude on this with canceling the orders. If they're simply OOS, fine -- say so, and do it during the ordering process, not afterwards. Otherwise, while we online share the codes and I'm sure it generated MASSIVE orders, OD put the chair on sale, and created the coupon. If they weren't prepared to actually HONOR the orders, they should never have created the promotion in the first place.

It's still generating excess sales of other merchandise (most at full markup) that would never have occurred otherwise. Small, sales, maybe -- but still sales. I know I'd have never paid the price I did for the "filler" meterial if it weren't for the chair.

I also got a call about 3 hours after i ordered saying they were OOS and wanted ot refund my whopping $0.83. Way to go OD!!!

The coupon WAS for when it was 89.99

This is whats posted on the Important notices page:

$39.99 Chair and Coupon 66697026 Combination Due to multiple offers for the same product, an unintentional combination of coupon and instant price reduction resulted in a final purchase price other than intended by either individual offer. At this time the decision has been made to not honor the combination of coupon and instant price reduction. However, we are willing to honor our best price of $39.99 on this product for a limited time. Although we make every effort to ensure the accuracy of all offers, you can learn more about our terms of use by pasting the following link in your browser window or clicking on Terms of Use in the footer of our home page. http://www.officedepot.com/renderStaticPage.do?file=/termsofuse.jsp

I checked my order this morning and the order shows out for delivery. I also noticed that I have a comment on my order that says "first time customer order" and I ordered some other items using different coupons as well. I have a "special order return policy" next to the chair which wasn't there when I first placed the order. So far it looks as though I got in on this in time. Thanks again OP.

i just checked mine, it too has the "special order return policy" but it also says shipped by third party. Guess we will see today, told my office doorman to sign for it if i am out of the office.
