Just came back from the LA event. I kinda missed the morning half because it started at 7am! Eeekkk... And lookey my nick.
Anyways, they wanted a picture ID for check in, and when you checked in they give you your "goodie bag". Which was bascially a big folder thingy with 180 eval code for Windows 2003 Server, and .NET. Also there was a DVD on the presentation. Dunno if it's in DVD video format, haven't tried it yet. Also in the bag is an Office 2003 trial version, and a nice little memo ledger thingy with Windows 2003 Server + .NET 2003 logo on it and a pen. Also, some magazines, and flyers/brochures.
There were lots of venders there in small booths, but they didn't have much hardware out.
Example, IBM, Dell, AMD, HP were there no hardware presence except for like one
desktop PC. AMD was touting Opertron with Windows server, but no hardware.
Lunch was a box lunch, turkey sandwitch, like pasta/rice salad thingy, a lemon bar for
dessert, and of course a Washington State apple. Free soda and water.
Went to the afternoon IT session. They talked about migration from NT 4.0 -> Windows 2003 Server. Did a demo on a laptop of an actual NT 4.0 install and migrated it to Windows 2003 Server. Talked a lot about Active Directory, Domain Controllers, and easy of migration tool implemented in 2003 Server. Also how 2003 Server would perform 3x times better than NT 4.0 on the same hardware.
A raffel at the end for prizes, biggest prize was the Viewsonic 15" LCD (about 6 of them), also had some books, some Veritas rain jackets, LA Dodgers tickets, some training classes, also a Microsoft Wireless base station, and a Viewsonic video processor (looked interesting).
That's about it... I was looking for the free T-shirt in my bag and didn't see it, but they gave the T-shirt away at the end of the event at a table at the exit. Big crowd.... T-shirt is packaged into a tight little thingy which looks like a notepad.
That's about it... I guess I missed the exciting lauch/keynote/evangelism in the
morning.
