Cool they have one downtown. Even for the eval this is cool since I am far too poor to even afford Visual Studio.net. I could only afford the cheap versions of C# and VC++. Wonder if I will look any different since we assume people going are going to be actual long time developers whereas I just use VC++ for school and self entertainment.

Dang, the Cleveland one's after work. Not sure I could get out of work for it anyway. I just had a two-day pre-release class on 2003 server last week! Got several eval copies of the product. But I'm thinking about moving into development. Thought the .NET freebie would be nice. Oh, well. I thought the 2000 launch was nice, but I'd have been able to handle the stretches of boredom a little better had I gone with a coworker. I won't go to one of these alone again.

It's a good product, by the way. Nice new features. If you're still on NT 4, get moving. But even just going from 2000 to 2003, there are some nice pickups. If I were at a smaller company, I'd definitely consider migrating.

You might want to keep an eye peeled for the MS for Partners e-mail.

They've got a number of free online and offline courses for Windows 2003, and they're giving away a free 32mb usb pen drive to everyone attending either way. ;)

How long are these events? All day?

Any additional info you guys can give?

They tend to have big welcome event to kick off, then events all day that you pick what to go to and finally the raffle at the end of the day (to force people to stick around)

I must be the minority here, I think these events bite. A lot of salesmanship - little substance. And evaluation copies do expire.

I wish they would raffle throughout the day instead of the end. Who wants to stick around for five hours. I was planning on going for a few then going back to work.

Is this version of 2003 Server the same that those of us got with the recent MS Exchange evaluation kit?

What do you mean, the Cleveland one is after work? It says 9am - 5pm. What hours do you work?

Excellent! My numerical dyslexia strikes again!
My bad. Sweet. Let's see what the boss says. Probably, "Did you just take two solid days to preview this product? No!"

Seriously, a free pen drive? Or was that a joke? I'm gonna go, make my mom go too, my 9 year old brother, and my dad. Then I'll take their pen drives and tell em to leave ;)

NYC is booked solid. I'll be off to CT on April 30TH. These events are pretty cool - Got lots of freebie software & a tee shirt at the Windows XP launch in 2001.

Err, if you go to school (or has a student/faculty ID), get the VS.NET Pro (academic version) for $90
here. This is probably the price for 1.5~2 text books, or maybe 10 movies, 6 12-packs of Becks... :(

If they do give out software it'll just be NFR, and it will be the full version. They've done this on numerous occassions. And then dummies like to try and come here to sell it LOL.
