"you don't get something for nothing"?
I don't think so. Most of us have got many free stuffs from this hot deals forum.

In my reply to Chuck at IMSI I said exactly that -- citing a case where what I got for free was selling for $299 at the same time I got it: CrossPad electronic pad. I think he was reflecting IMSI's attitude "You don't get something for free from IMSI" -- which may well be true.

Just recieved this email from msbcd.com:

Dear Valued Customer,

This letter is in reference to your recent purchase of MasterClips from
msbcd.com. We want to assure you that we are working with IMSI and
msbcd.com will be honoring the rebate posted on the MasterClips Box.*

After a lengthy conversation with IMSI's CEO, Geoffrey Koblick, msbcd.com
was informed that msbcd.com and IMSI had been mis-lead by one of its
suppliers. IMSI had put certain restrictions on the product in question
and msbcd.com purchased that product in good faith believing the product
could be sold with the attached rebate. IMSI's CEO has been gracious
enough to extend msbcd.com any assistance he can to resolve this matter as
quickly as possible. We understand that this is an unwelcome inconvenience
to our customers, and all parties involved. Both msbcd.com and IMSI are
working to make this situation as painless as possible.

We want to assure our customers that we are working in conjunction with
IMSI and that Mr. Koblick has guaranteed that IMSI will honor the one year
subscription to ArtToday.com's offer of 750,000 images on-line. IMSI will
also recognize your registration status as a MasterClips 1,250,000 customer.

To redeem your $30 rebate, please send a copy of your invoice and the
original UPC bar code symbol located on your MasterClips box to:

msbcd.com - Rebate Center
Most Significant Bits, Inc.
P.O Box 127
Avon, Ohio 44011
U.S.A

To check your rebate status, please click on the link below:

We do apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and hope we
handled this matter in an expedient and satisfactory manner.

Respectfully,

Patricia A. Miller
Vice President

* msbcd.com's rebate honor applies only to those customers that have
already purchased and/or received IMSI MasterClips 1,250,000 with a $30
rebate on or before June 6, 2000 with a purchase price of $30 or more.

msbcd.com is committed to providing professional customer service. We give
our assurance that our customer's concerns are addressed and resolved in a
timely manner.

Thanks Gomez - you beat me to it!
I received the same email. It's great to actually see an online business back up a problem and take care of things themselves for a change - to keep the customer satisfied!

Props to msbcd.com !! :)

Regarding earlier question about Worldbook 2000, I received mine today and it had a sticker on the box stating that there was a $40 rebate good until years end, but it was not the rebate form, and there was none in the box. I have a call into IBM and they said they would call me back. Next time someone is on the line with MSBCD, you might ask them about this one too.

Where did you find the UPC? I have a dirty UPC barcode label attched to the box. The original barcode is covered by that label. I hope we are not going to have another trouble.

Thanks for the World Book info!
And thanks for writing and calling the company about all this. It's really helped us all.

Looks like MSB has come through with honoring the rebate. Got my check for $30 today! This is probably faster than the software vendor would have processed the rebate! ;)

Motrac, Same thing happened to me with Microsoft Expedia. The box said the rebate info was in the box, but it wasn't. I called MSB and they said return it to them for a refund.

Hopefully I'll get the refund.

I have a question. What does a copy of the invoice mean? is it the email that they sent confirming the order??

Also. there are two barcodes on the box. one directly printed on the box and another sticker. what do we send in?

I sent in both upc barcodes.

The "copy" refers to the invoice they sent to you in the box with your purchase.
