I felt and heard a pop in my spine around the area of my fusion from last year. Than yesterday and today started getting pain in that area along with some burning into my right leg. I am waiting for my Dr. to call me back to see what he wants to do. I just really do not want anything to be wrong and have to go through surgery again.

Dang, I hope you are ok. Back surgery is horrible, it would be terrible to have to go through that again.

yuck that sucks :( I am just recovering from a deadlifting injury. I went to the ER because I heard an audible pop on my last rep and had intense pain and could barely move. Turned out it was just a bulged disk, thank god. Just some rest and meds took care of it. Backs are something you take for granted until there is a problem :( I hope things work out for you!

That could've just been a cavitation. The vertebrae that are fused can't really re-injure because they don't have the ability to move - it's essentially one bone now. However, the segments above and below, especially if you haven't been trying to maintain a neutral spine throughout day-to-day living, may have become hypermobile as a result. That can definitely lead to protruding discs as well as muscular and ligamentous injuries. With your history though, it's definitely best to get it checked out. Here's hoping that it's nothing big.

Just talked to my Dr. and I am getting x-rays done in the morning. I am hoping that there is nothing wrong and everything is okay. Also no heavy lifting until she calls back. No gym this week I guess.

Sorry to hear about the back stuff. The immediate post-op period is always grueling. Have you been following through on the routine exercise and lower back muscle physical therapy?
I've often wondered if people who lift(in addition to the out-of-shape) tend to neglect core musculature like the back muscles since they dont accentuate/ripple like the front abs do.
Also, is there any sort of pictured internet resource that points to back muscle exercises that can be done at home without weights? (e.g. bird-dogging)

I have been doing a lot of core exercises. My surgery was over a year ago and it was such a weird pop feeling out of no where that has me scared.

Popping can happen. Have you ever seen a chiropractor? The popping is called cavitation and it's a result of soluble gases within a joint coming out of solution and then going back into solution. It creates a gas bubble that pops and creates the same popping noise as when you crack your knuckles. If you are ONLY freaking out about the pop, then its your psychological predisposition to be worried about your back getting the best of you. If it was accompanied by pain, warmth, numbness, tingling, then it's an issue. People's backs crack sometimes, even your's. I think pain the next day may you be thinking too much into it. If you actually injured something, you'd likely be in pain instantly.

I have been having some burning and sharp pains between my hips and have also had some pain going down into my right leg while walking. My back still pops all the time and when it does it usually feels good. This didnt feel anything like that. It was a lot harder and it just felt wrong.

Sure your chair didnt pop and you jerked and pulled a muscle. :)
Nah prob not, but I did that one day and pulled a shoulder and neck muscle. Man I need a new chair..

I heard from my doctor yesterday and got some good news. Everything looked good and all it was was that my spine was a little misaligned. Got it back into place and am feeling great.

Yep, it cavitated and maybe misaligned a little bit :) Glad to hear that was it. Remember to move from your hips as much as possible. If you're regularly bending through your back, you're going to induce hypermobility of the segments around the fusion. That will promote misalignment and other pathology so just keep that in mind. Again, glad to hear it wasn't anything serious.
