hahah, didnt see the end coming.

what? desc of video was:
As advanced as the US stinger or hellfire

Those things are 20yrs OLD!

Not to mention that neither of those are man portable anti-tank weapons. The stinger is an anti-aircraft missile, and the hellfire is launched by helicopters.

the stinger is shoulder mounted. why cant it be used against a tank? heck, why cant it be use against anything? point and shoot, right?

I was actually thinking this was going to be a real showing of some useful weapon but I have to admit I was thinking "why would the French actually need weapons they are too cowardly to ever get involved in an actual war unless they are posturing to surrender".

Wow, i have no love for the french but i have so many problems with this post it's making me depressed that people like you exist.

HAHAHAHA....and I posted it with the intention of pulling the chain of people just like you. Predictable knee jerk for the win!

Sounds like trolling to me. Niaiseux!

I guess you can shoot it at a tank, but you can throw a marshmallow at a tank, too.

It's not an anti-tank weapon and won't go through thick steel. The charges are different. Usually anti-aircraft warheads throw shrapnel, while antitank rounds use shaped charges which inject a stream of copper into the tank.

A Stinger is made to be used against aircraft with strong infrared signatures. The warhead is also not meant for use against heavily armored targets. Even if you could get it to lock on and fire I doubt there would be much damage since the warhead is too light and not shaped.

Probably because Stingers are for airplanes and won't even dent a tank. Maybe scratch it, but that is just going to piss off the tank commander more than anything else.

Would that work like our Javelin missile system? Two stages with the first to start the rocket at the right angle and the second boost to build speed. It reaches high apogee then comes down from above striking the target from above where armor is minimal for most damage.

If those charges malfunctioned (one would hope) the warhead fuze would be retarded* or disarmed but who knows?

It's known as a soft launch. I'm guessing the launch motor fizzled out right away and didn't touch off the flight motor.

I don't think the Eryx has a top attack mode like the Javelin but I could be wrong. It's made to blast through high thickness/reactive armor at short ranges.

It's undoubtedly contact fused and luckily the rocket landed on it's body and not the nose.
