Im not. If I believe USA>all other countries is nationalism, I guess Im a nationalist. Its not a zero sum game. If the US chooses USA products or labor at the detriment of China or Mexico, Im all for it.

It doesn't work that way. It should but it doesn't.

Case in point.. USA USA USA and you get guys like Pharma Bro charging $750 per pill of meds.

But if the USA cultivates some alliances.. you can get generics for $1 a pill or less from India.

What do you care about at that point? Nationalism or Alliances with some countries?

Did you see the word "if" in my statement?

Alliances can be fine as long as the USA benefits. Again, Im with Biden on this.

It all depends on how you define nationalism, or more particularly, to what degree of "nationalism" is good or acceptable. I see absolutely nothing wrong with nationalism/patriotism per se and think they are good but when they get elevated to "my country right or wrong" it's a travesty IMO. Sadly I think nationalism has been used for decades now to (ironically) tear apart the fabric of the USA by the GOP persuading a substantial segment of the electorate that their problems are caused by the others (blacks, immigrants, non-Christians, etc) while at the same time dismembering the very institutions that built the true strength of the American economy-a large and growing middle class.

We have gotten a lot of things wrong, but so far at least our major competitors on the world stage have gotten more wrong.
