Looks like the people of France are smarter than their friends in the US.
They get to see how things turned out when a fascist dictator runs the government. And well, the US had to see for themselves.

Repubs here locked themselves in a closet, tossed the key out from under the door, waved adios to all the unbelievers, proclaimed that the nation is theirs and theirs alone and if you didn't join their side then you must be gay, of color or an immigrant of color, or a commie that hates Trump and his good friend Putin. And to make sure there was no turning back for themselves, they silently agreed among themselves that anyone who even thinks of returning to the real world is a traitor that will be mercilessly hunted down and persecuted for the rest of their days.

Good. He won. But the most disturbing thing here is the Nazi got 43% of the vote.

42% of France voted for a fucking Nazi.

These totalitarian rectally sourced Putin puffing fascists wouldn't have even broken single digits a decade ago in a western nation.

Republicans here have an advantage i.e. their control of many state governments. Trump or no Trump, Trumpism marches on with or without Donald Trump. THAT flaw must be fixed. Republican controlled states are still doing more damage to democracy than any president Trump could ever do on his own.
I think the only way to fight against THAT is for businesses in those republicans ran amuck states to rebel and if necessary leave the state altogether. Make that state suffer, the state economy suffer, the people suffer if necessary, and finally for the state government to suffer.

Lets face it, at some point those republican run amuck states must come back down to earth and quit their bigoted racist nonsense. The voters can help this along if they have the balls, but until then I think it is up to the corporations like Disney, Apple, Amazon, Google and the many others to do their patriotic duty. And after all, that same business must realize how a republican ran amuck state will also harm business with limiting the ability to attract good educated employees as well as customers. Just wait until Disney suffers financially from what Florida republicans have done, Disney will have no choice but to pull out and move away.

Easy now, that would be the same as saying Nazis put Trump in the oval for 4 years.
She is clever, she disguises her shit in various populist ways.
42% of France is not racist bigots. There is an alarming sense of nationalism though.

Republican owned states offer cheap labor to businesses that's hard to turn away from. It's the only attractive thing those GOP run states have to offer businesses other than how their conservative politicians manage to bring in more welfare dinero than they pay into the federal treasury while claiming how the federal gov't needs to stay out of their state's business of keeping wages down and profits up. Their hypocrisy knows no bounds.

The kicker here is how those millions of folks who live in these poverty stricken GOP run states and receive federal welfare assistance keep voting in those same conservative politicians who are fighting hard to deny their own people those very things that would lift them out of poverty and give them better opportunities to raise their standards of living.

Somehow those folks have been convinced that it's better to be poor and faithful to their wealthy conservative landlords than to look out for their own interests first and foremost. I guess for many of them the choice they have is to be the obedient and passive indentured workers or not have a job at all and that's just how their wealthy conservative masters have set things up for themselves. Having their cake and stuffing themselves silly with it is a nice racket they have going on there.

You don't see anything wrong with the philosophy that the patch of dirt beneath the spot a person was born contributes to the value of said person?

So you have a problem with blacks being proud of the color of their skin? Or Mexicans being proud from being from Mexico? Or Italians being proud of their lineage?

It was also a record low turnout. 28% didn't vote for anyone. (Which, on the upside, I think does mean it's not correct to say that "43% of France voted for a Nazi" - 43% of those who voted at all did).
It seems like it's getting worse with each successive election, though. I gather this was the far-right's highest vote to date.
