Not sure about without killing anyone, but I went through it killing only a handful of enemies. The rest I bashed into submission with a baton/electric prod!

There is one guy who has to die near the end, Howard Strong, but he sometimes kills himself with his own LAMs (or you can drop something on his head and not use a weapon). Anna Navarre normally has to die as well, but if you're very lucky, it is possible to glitch the AI and get past her without killing her.

If you are asking for true FP Adventure Games... I don't think they exist or I'm drawing a blank. URU has an FP mode, but it's more of a 3rd person game as first person seems to be terribly implemented. URU seems like the type of thing where, a second game probably would have been spot on but I think the Myst series has ended.

Portal showed us that first person puzzles can be fun, but I doubt many people will follow in the footsteps anytime soon.

Mission Critical was a first person adventure game. I still consider it to be among the top two or three best adventures I've played, and that includes all the Lucasarts titles. It came out in 1995, before 3D had really taken off, so the animations are all prerendered and still look pretty decent. The Last Dynasty, a space sim from around the same period, also had a short FP adventure portion that was similarly prerendered (and was actually much better than the rest of the game).

I don't know of any modern games like this. Adventure games are very rare these days in the first place.

Under a Killing Moon is the only 1st person adventure game I can think of. The game is/was awsome, but it only runs in DOS.

Pong, oh, wait, you do slap the poor ball all the time. Too violent.

Lately I been thinking about how cool it would be to play a first person game that doesn't involve killing people.

Even WoW and Guild Wars are killing games.

What games do you know that are first person games that don't involve killings.
actually *most* FPS games don't involve killing "people"
:p

OK ... since were talking "pixels" ... what about "aliens" ... and "monsters" . . . and "beasts" . . . and "mechs"

Are they "people" also?

--or are we just narrowly talking about which PC games have no "killing" ? :p

Thief/2 ... and old games ;)

I just think there's more to first person game than being a shooter, whether monsters or humans, it's still a shooter and it's still violent.

There's much more potential waiting to be explored.

Well, there are pr0n games that are usually first person, and usually don't involve killing. Not that I'm implying anything of course.

Have you ever played "Under a Killing Moon"? It is probably my favorite game of all time, and it is a first person game that involves no killing. It is a detective game that came out in the mid 90's, just before Windows 95 was introduced. I played it recently, and the graphics aren't that bad, which surprised me considering it is a 3D game from over 10 years ago. It is fun, but I needed to run it with DosBox :(

Painkiller. You're in hell so you're not killing anyone since they're already dead. Also any zombie or vampire game.

One of my favorites ever. There are also two sequels, Pandora Directive and Overseer. I find it sad that games like these didn't catch on. Now we have such advanced physics and graphics technologies and it seems the only thing anyone finds worthwhile doing with them is run around with a gun pointed out in front.

Kind of like with porn. In the 70s people believed that a porn flic needed a real plot and music, and would develop into a legitimate form of entertainment. Look where we are now. It's mostly people running around with a cam in front of them, filming while they pick up some prostitutes.

Sweet, I'll have to pick those up. Do they work in Windows, or do I have to emulate DOS for them as well?

Pandora is 6 CDs and runs like Killing Moon under Dosbox. Overseer works in WinXP using Win95 compatibility mode. If you get the DVD version you can get the movie sequences running by downloading "Mediamatics DVDExpress". May be a bit hard to find but in that case I think I could help you out.

Now you have got me thinking about what game to play next, once I've finished Shivering Isles. Was planning on Crysis but both those 6 CDs and the DVD look damn enticing...
