Those who want to receive tax refunds or passports may not like it.

I've been waiting since May for the IRS to review a correction they made to my 2012 return. Neither my wife or step-daughter have family names and when the IRS tries to verify their SSN it comes back as invalid. I've been getting a letter every 45 days saying they haven't completed their research even though I sent them a photocopy of the wife and step-daughter SSN cards with my request they reinstate the deductions for both.

So you concede that up to this point it is just a slimdown?

My understanding was that even after the debt ceiling is breached the government still has enough incoming funds to meet the vast majority of its obligations. And thanks to the slimdown the obligations have shrunk.

So. uhh, the "slimdown" is now permanent?

Perhaps you'd care to source the basis of your "understanding", such as it is.

I assume that if the debt ceiling is breached that the slimdown will still be in affect.

Nice dodge. Again, how did you come to that "understanding"?

And, uhh, just how much do we stand to save from the "slimdown"? You know, perhaps expressed as a % of total expenditures.

You mean allocating government resources to be more efficient and to prioritize various immigration issues? Or are you talking about the federal government supporting various states that have passed their own versions of the dream act?

No. I mean implementing law that couldn't pass Congress by issuing a presidential directive/memo to the Secretary of the Department Homeland Security, Janet Napolitano. Congress was bypassed.

And what exactly did the memo state?

...oh wait...he isn't a dictator.

The leadership that is lacking is in the house. When a clean CR can be passed in the house but the speaker won't bring it to a vote because it doesn't meet an arbitrary rule, that's a clear lack of leadership.

Of course you didn't know that because you only get your information from talking points, just like the rest of the drones in this and in the dozens of other threads on this forum.

Obama sure acts like a dictator. Last I checked he without input from congress ignored part of Obamacare because it was going to burn him.

You can always tell when the left is upset about something. They let you know in a myriad of ways. OUTRAGE over replacing the word "shutdown" with "slimdown". How juvenile.

Yet weren't you one of the ATPN posters who was outraged with climatologists' use of the phrase "climate change" instead of "global warming," which you insisted was an attempt by the left to attribute all extreme weather - whether heating or cooling - on man-made causes?

So are you admitting that you're juvenile? Or are you just a hypocrite?

I'm not saying he didn't delay part of the law, I'm calling out for the false reason you gave for why he delayed part of it.

What false reason is that?

What he did is exactly how dictators act.

What would your reaction be if a republican just delayed Obamacare forever.

Tell that to House republicans. They don't seem to be able to make the connection between losing elections and not getting everything they want.
Didn't they (all the current Republican members of the House) WIN their last election? I don't think you understand the division of powers, and the house controls spending and they did WIN the house.

Why was the employer mandate delayed? I've already answered and I cited a source, can you do the same?

does it matter why? no it doesn't

Obama did it on his own. He changed the law on his own. He acted like a dictator.

If he wanted the law change he should have went to congress.

The left just wants republicans to be yes men to the democrats because they only control half of congress.

He did? Then surely you could cite the specific language of the law that Obama violated and you could also show the court case Obama lost concerning this matter. Thanks.

court case is pending.

are you on the left really this stupid?

I already posted a link saying Obama delayed the employer mandate. the employer mandate was part of the law the democrats in congress passed, and Obama signed.

If your bored. ACA section 1513 deals with the employer mandate. Last part of it states

"EFFECTIVE DATE.—The amendments made by this section shall apply to months beginning after December 31,2013. "

Obama signed that into law.

I don't get the reason for the shutdown, isn't Obamacare still going into effect?

Yes. I thought it was due to budget demands (even aside from the ACA), but then the house won't even vote on the clean CR bill the senate passed that has spending at sequester levels.

So all I see is a party that is actually trying to hurt America and Americans and sadly, that isn't hyperbole.

Anyone want to wipe the froth from their lips and address these two posts?

Enquiring minds want to know.

I actually agree with you that Obama lacks the authority to delay the employer mandate. I do find it funny that Republicans are so insane over this law that they are fighting in court to implement parts of it they don't like just because they think it will make people mad about the other parts.

It is really illuminating to see a major political party that has simply lost its mind.
