TV sucks, my opinion of this happening is because a lot more liberals do not even watch tv.
None of my friends even own a "idiot box" it makes you docile, stupid and kills off critical thinking long term once you accept the "cultural norms" from extended viewing.
Hopefully this generation will be the decline of the boob tube.

About Fox in particular, as someone else said, they are cheerleaders for GOP reactionary types and a perfect example of one more thing in our society that turns to fluff crap when profit is the main motive losing its original purpose which is to provide a important role in a democratic system. Check and balances and the bottom line do not mix.

That's impressive OP. The American public prefers Fox News and especially O'Reilly Factor? This is the same American public where 3 out of 4 people believe in angels and 79% not only don't believe in evolution but they still call it a 'theory'.

Oh yeah his ratings suck because his views and show sucks. Of course these P&N posters continue to believe they know the way things ought to be. See, this is why your type is annoying. FNC is annoying, partisan drivel. So is Olbermann, except most of his drivel is pointing out the other side's drivel is little more than FUD. The fact that FNC is #1 bothers me because 100% of their viewers share your mentality; you're actually serious about an e-penis contest over which cable news station you watch. Viewers shouldn't be getting into an e-penis contest, that just shows you how much "news" is actually left in cable news.
Sure FOX leans to the right more than those other stations, some of which are so far left they suckle at the teat of Obama(FOX didn't have any reporters getting "thrills going up their legs"). FOX is the most "Fair and Balanced" and that has been independently proven time and again. I don't watch Olberman because he is just so full of hate and everything wrong in this world is all Bush's fault bullshit that just a couple minutes gives me a headache. FOX does have opposing viewpoints, does Olberman ever have any conservative guests?
These forums are so liberal and filled with people who are so self-important believing they have all the answers while millions of Americans who do not share their views are wrong and just plain stupid. I mean who the hell are these posters? The vast majority are a bunch of peons who probably live some meaningless life and come to these boards to post so they can feel important.

For the OP and others crowing about Fox "News" ratings ... seriously? Are your lives (and heads) really so empty that you think this is some sort of great victory? Over what, de ebil librulz? What exactly do you think it proves?
If you think TV ratings are somehow a measure of importance or dominance, here's a little context for you. Nothing on Fox "News" cracks the top 20 for Nielson cable ratings ("Burn Notice" was #1 last week). Among the other things tromping everything on Fox "News" are two episodes of "WWE Entertainment," two episodes of "Hannah Montana," and several episodes of -- wait for it -- "Spongebob Squarepants!" Yes, a cable cartoon was consistently watched by over four times as many families as the hottest show on Fox "News."
The numbers get even worse for the FN fan boys if one looks at television as a whole (because let's face it, most homes these days have cable or satellite). "NBC Nightly News" dominates with over 7.6 million views last week. That's about eight times more than anything on Fox "News." ABC and CBS also blow FN away, with about 6.8M and 5.5M respectively. Add them all up and that's over 20 times as many viewers as FN. If one looks at prime time Nielsens, "60 Minutes" is the only news show to crack the top 20, with roughly eight times as many viewers as FN's top show. Of the Sunday morning news programs, NBC's "Meet the Press," ABC's "This Week," and CBS's "Face the Nation" each soundly trounce Fox's "Fox News Sunday."

LOL - I called him out on that "look at me, I am an idiot " sig before. I simply asked when Obama came into office in Jan 2009, the economy had been in a massive pitfall for over 1 year. How is that Obama's fault? Even if you dont like what he has done and you think it will be trouble in the long run - the fact is that 6 months into his presidency, the economy has been turning around.
The guy is obviously a dimwit of the highest degree.

SS is probably the best FOX has to offer. I'd like to see him on another network though. The other anchors there....make my head want to explode. Either they lack the capacity for rational throught or it just hasn't descended yet. C'mon...Hannity interviewing Karl Rove every other day? How is that objective in any way? Greta van Sustren asks possibly the dumbest questions possible. I cannot get through her show without doing several /facepalms. There are many examples...

Who cares is FOX News is first place. I though the same thing when CNN was in first, that all three outlets are sorry excuses for journalism.
Economy turning around with 9.5% unemployment and rising!? Let's just say that if the economy is improving(and it has yet to be proven), Obama's policies have done nothing to turn this economy around when not even 10% of the "stimulus" money has been spent. You keep deluding yourself into thinking that Obama has all the answers when in reality he is the emperor with no clothes.
The signature comes from bumper stickers that read, "Bush lied, Americans died" if you must know. Obama lied about the stimulus and how it contained few earmarks, how it would halt unemployment, and create jobs. The massive printing of money will undoubtedly lead to inflation in the future. It also applies to when Obama repeatedly vowed "you will not see any of your taxes increase one single dime." That will soon be proven another of his lies.

First off, I didnt say Obama's responsible for the economy improving. I just said that it was turning around. YOU implied that it was his fault that it was bad and I pointed out that it is rediculous.
the economy is turning around ALL of the economic indicators point to that - that facts are that unemployment ALWAYS lags 6 months or more. When the economy dumps, job loss starts 6 months later, when it improves, jobs dont start getting better until 6 months after that. If you knew jack about economy, you would know that.
I know, we all know the source "when Clinton lied, no-one died" slogan... It was stated to show Bush was a liar about things that were far more severe than his own penis. The thing is those slogans make sense, and "Obama lied, the economy died" doesn't make sense. Obama didnt kill the economy - all the things you think may happen because of what Obama did may or may not happen and certainly didnt happen yet in any positive or negative manor. The worst you could say is Obama was wrong and the economy didnt ressurect as fast or as well as he said it would.

Or maybe this is why there's hope for us after all, more people have realized you can learn more about being a decent person from watching nautical non-sense than all of the cable news channels combined.
