July Ratings: Fox News Beats MSNBC & CNN Combined in Total Day and Prime
http://www.mediabistro.com/tvn...y_and_prime_122858.asp

Fox News Channel continued its cable news dominance in July not only beating CNN and MSNBC combined, but showing the most growth in the younger demo. In A25-54 viewers, FNC is up 48% in total day, and up 70% in primetime, compared to July '08.
Looks like younger viewers are starting to see the liberal media for what it is.

Cable news' #1 show for 104 consecutive months, "The O'Reilly Factor", is up 37% over July '08.
WOW - The #1 show for 104 months is UP 37% over last year.

and the kicker....
FNC's audience expanded in all categories during July 2009, besting CNN and MSNBC combined in viewership (for both Total Day and Prime) according to Nielsen Media Research.
Liberals can keep trying to call FNC - "Faux News" all they want but the fact of the matter is that viewers are flocking from CNN/MSBNC to FNC for a reason. When all of your prime time programming sees double digit ratings gains you must be doing something right.

The O'Reilly Factor beat a broadcast news - CBS Evening News with Kattie Coric. Keep the lie alive liberals...keep the lie alive.

when you have 5 channels to choose from to see your own views, it dissolves viewership... but let's not pretend that this isnt substantial... a 37% increase is nothing to ignore....

I would say younger viewers are seeing cable news for what it really is: a steaming pile of shit no matter which way you look. If they don't, then there is something seriously wrong in the education of said young people, particularly in the areas of critical thinking.

Liberal media? LOL. Look at who owns "liberal media" - large corporations. If you pulled your head out of your ass, you'd realize that you're so far to the right that you can't even identify the political middle road.

No big deal.

In fact, right-wing conservative mouthpieces like Rushbo and O'Reilly have always been hot tickets. They do well when conservatives are in power, and they do even better when conservatives are out of power.

The right-wing ditto-heads need their lullabies before they go to sleep.

So you are saying that large corporations can't have a "liberal" agenda to make a profit?

Look at what GE is going with NBC and its "ecomagination" initiative. GE is using NBC to push for Cap and Trade where they stand to make a killing.

Want me to go into Al Gore and his "big corporations" and the billions he stands to make?

How about George Soros the hedge fund manager? Made BILLIONS by tanking the British pound. He is also a supporter of the DEMOCRATS. Huh, he is positioned to do the same thing on the weakness of the dollar....

So, your "big corporations"/"evil rich" argument simply doesn't hold water.

okay, so tell me what news stations cater towards the conservative demographic?

todays news is no longer broadcasting, it is narrowcasting... all news is narrowcasted and that is the only way to create profit...

The reason is people are stupid. It's the same reason they supported the Iraq war en masse and the same reason they re-elected a terrible president in 2004. Agagin!

It's clear that some stations cater towards certain demographics, but the OP makes it sound like some grand f*cking conspiracy: "the liberal media is out to ruin conservative America" (and all that bullshit)

Where did I say "evil rich"? Where was it even implied? The corporations are there to make money - they'll do whatever the f8ck they want to make as much money as possible. If it means some stations cater to one group while other stations cater to a different group, so be it.

And these companies might have be liberal on certain issues, but I bet their pretty conservative when it comes to regulation of media market control and all that jazz... They don't fit into one mold.

Well people are stupid. Instead of electing Obama or McCain, they really need to look at independent parties. People are just too stupid to realize both Dems and Reps are just two ends of a stick.

Instead of looking at that stick, they should find a rock or a spec of sand or something....

some? the ONLY way to make a profit in the USA is to cater towards a demographic, afaik that is econ 101... i can name ONE station that caters towards the conservatives, that is Fox... the ones that cater towards liberals is long....

All respect, sir, but when it comes down to the work that "independents" would have do to to enact their polices, you don't believe they'd fold like a house of cards....

The only way to find that out would be to give them a chance. If we elect a strong independent leader liked by many, then he may have a chance.

All I am stating is more choices is always better.

ah, there's the rub. "They" have the chance to win elections like any Dem or Rep, but overall "they" do not... Why is that? Status quo, perhaps... Or is it, they don't have a better notion to any thing other than "everyone else is doing it wrong..."

/in the hot seat, "they" would fail....

Lets see - one partisaned right wing news station vs. dozens of fair and balanced ones. Are you surprised that the ratings are good now that the dems are in control? No, you are just trying to make it look like your side matters.

You want to see real results? Check the latest election. The nation has voted, and voted you and yours out...

Another failed and impotent Patranus post. - LOL you are a pathetic joke. Only those as narrow minded as you are would miss your obvious agenda.

Now you've been owned again - so go do your usual slink away and don't respond because you've been owned routine.

I'd like to see the breakdown of their viewership. I imagine there's some opposition who view it for the "shock factor."

That's all this post amounts to.

Your pile of horse shit has more people around it sniffing it and exclaiming that it actually "smells good"? That doesn't mean it smells good, ya dumb partisan slut.

Obamaphobia and the destruction of America at the hand of Democrats is much more exciting to right wingers as a story then hearing about Bush's exploits as the best American president in decades.

Freak shows, clowns and train wrecks tend to attract attention.
Like Disney?s hyper active cartoons attract a kids attention.
Tabloid TV at its best.
No big deal...

And once again I note to myself that 90% of the flame posts ("you are a pathetic joke" etc. etc.) we see on this board come from liberals. I can't help but wonder if there is a causal relationship between the attacks we see and age of the poster. Like father like son, I supposed, blame shifting and name calling like usual...

Nevertheless, thankfully yet again, "the truth will out".
