FOX : FOXES but OX : OXEN?

So why is it that we say OXEN for OX but for FOXES for FOX? I was trying to look it up for some students on google but I don't even know what to search for.

History of the word "OX" revealed nothing. Any help?

As far as I can tell from the dictionary, both words originate from old English.
