I think what this forum needs is a completely honest "coming out" (of sorts) thread, particularly with respect to opinions about Muslims and/or Islam, so instead of certain people repeatedly posting stuff that is heavily laden with implications about how threatening Muslims are to them, how refugees are bad, etc, these people would actually come straight out with what they'd do about this situation if they had the authority.

IMO it would help others see the difference between "I've thought this through and I came to conclusion X" and "I haven't thought this opinion through to a logical conclusion but I like to disparage millions of people with sweeping generalisations anyway", and decide whether to engage such people in discussion or avoid them entirely.

Not to play devils advocate, but how do we know this woman just didn't snap and really isn't a radical at all? I mean, she's probably a radical nut (different from just a nutty nut), but, do we really know?

I have "fellow leftist moderator pals"? I guess you know more about whom I'm on friendly terms with than I do! Would any of these alleged moderator pals of mine please make themselves known? Perhaps you have a few suggestions of whom they might be? I am genuinely curious.

AFAIK being anti-Islam on P&N is A-OK here as far as moderation policy goes; I don't think I've ever seen any moderated posts here that were purely anti-Islam.

Look, she probably is, but people snap and go crazy all the time. Who is to say that she didn't snap and that this is what her crazy decided to do.

Yep. Beheading has some special connotations to Muslims, but to actually do it, especially to a child, one must also be crazy.
 
I'm tired of the lefty types constantly defending radical Islam. If this had been a violent act by a gun wielding white man from the south and his victim a black or a Jew would we hesitate to call him a right wing nut job? She's a Muslim wearing a hijab, she not only killed a child she cut her head off, she then displayed the severed head to the public.

And before the Christian types go off on Islam itself remember that if this were a millennium ago during the Inquisition it would have been Christians doing these insane acts.

Fact is religion is at fault here and in this era the major culprit is Islam! The number of people killed in the name of god is unfathomable!

Very true, but for me this just illustrates a huge part of the problem. It's not a millennium ago, and unfortunately some backward mindsets that haven't moved forward from 'a millennium ago' are going to clash in totally incompatible ways with the modern world.

This is an unfortunate shit sandwich in the age of blindly stupid multicultralism.

While of course it's not "all muslims" or anything close to it, the fact is despite the kneejerk PC cowardice to the contrary it's "enough muslims" to keep violent clashes with the modern world inevitable.

I'm fine with that. I'm just saying, attributing this to radical Islam might be the wrong attribution. It might just be she's crazy. Either way, since there is about absolutely no doubt who the murderer is, I'm fine with execution.

Then they should probably revisit what they think they know about the Inquisition(s). New understandings of that period now consider the violence etc to have been substantially overstated. (Basically history was exaggerated by Protestants to make the Catholics church look bad is how the story goes.)

I not sure I've ever read anyone here defending radical Islam, I must have missed that one.

It's the people who want to label ever Muslim or any person who even resembles one a member of radical Islam that most people seem to have an issue with.
