Found an orphan kitten

Found an orphan kitten in my backyard, he was calling out for his mother for a day.. i then decided to take him in, I have had kittens in the past but none this small (his eyes are still shut so am guessing he is only a few days old) so am a little nervous..

I am feeding him cow's milk mixed with skimmed milk powder and a meal replacement powder.

Will keep you guys posted.

You are going to have to teach the kitten all the things its mother didn't.
I recommend you start licking the kitty immediately.

hmm i tried looking for goat's milk.. no dice (live in India) I do plan to keep it.. I read about having to wipe his genitals with warm, wet tissue to get him to poop but he has been pooping just fine on his own (thank god for that!)

Don't get too depressed if it dies, kittens are very difficult to raise without the mother.

It doesn't look too young, I remember being able to hold newly born kittens in one hand with plenty of room to spare. I'm thinking the eyes should've opened already.

To be honest, if you want to prevent it from dying or getting very ill then take it to a Vet right away. Find out what you need to do to take care of it from the vet. That is its best chance to live and be healthy.

Humm it looks like it?s a Calico but you?re calling it a him. I only thought Calicos were only female. Any way props for trying to take care of a kitten in need and good luck.

Call a humane group. It may need more specialized care than you can give him at this point in his life, and they can help.

He is right, but see a vet before the humane group. It is possible there is something wrong with it which can be fixed and you will not even notice symptoms until it is too late.

We had one like that when it was a kid only it was older, the poor guy was sick all the time before he died. I'd bring him to a vet because whatever we did wasn't enough!

The trouble is they get their antibodies from their mothers milk so they're more likely to get sick.
