Guys just an early FYI. I will not be racing on 3/18.

My 14th Anniversary and well you can kinda understand why I won't be there.

Greg

No, I can't. Seriously. 😉

Nice pick Arby. This should be a blast!

I talked up your mad tuning skillz last night Waldo. Thanks for the help! That car was the only reason I raced as well as I did.

Haha, I didn't do much but you are welcome. Always glad to help anyone here with tuning issues. The Maserati could have used some more tuning time last night but I simply ran out. It did turn when I asked it to though. The oversteer was a little too prominent on corner exit, but overall it turned out well.

I know you could have made it better with time but it was nearly perfect for my driving style. I kinda want to send it back to you once OSJ tests it and see what else you can do to it. Any chance you'd wanna??

Thanks from me too Waldo! Ty threw the tune on with 10 mins to go for me too, and although as usual I got caught/caused a few wrecks, I managed to finish an honest third @ Sunset with the second quickest lap(and PB), and managed to hold second through half of maple valley. You did a great job!

I also do give my apologies to anyone I clipped last night. Little time with the tune, + a little overenthusiasm at times in an effort not to let my teamates down, caused me to go into a couple situations too hot. I do think i have improved already quite a bit in the short time I have been racing with all of you, and want to thank everyone for the opportunity to do so.

I'd like to send out a round of apologies to all for my part in the wrecks I caused last night. I'd say last night was the worst night I've raced in awhile.

Note to self: When Waldo offers to tune a car, TAKE it.

Ok the pick for next week is as follows.

It's a spec-build WRX "club racer" build to encourage close racing and bumping.
When you get done the specs should look like this:
A791 2005 WRX STI
Speed 5.6
Accel 6.8
Braking 5.1
Handling 4.9

HP: 342
Tq: 360
Wt. 2,406 lbs

For the engine, do race air intake and exhaust

For handling/platform, max EVERYTHInG but use STOCK transmission and differential.

Tires are Sport compound > BFGoodrich (the first option)
get the widest tire upgrade
stock wheel diameter
wheels are EnKEI RP F1 (first enkei option)

and... NO AERO PIECES

FR would have been an S2000 and MR would have been MR2s

This is going to be interesting as other than some additional weight and about 20 more HP at the wheels this is what I drive everyday!

A huge +1. Methinks the car tune was the biggest part of it. Your Zonda certainly had power though, I couldn't keep up with it in the straights (something typically reserved for the CLK)!

On my off race I watched a replay/telemetry. On the maserati I did a few things after OSJ tuned it.
F Camber -.9 (more neg camber)
R Camber -.4 (more neg camber)
Caster - 5.7 (upped)
F ARB - decreased maybe 10-15%
Decel - upped to 60% (was getting some off throttle understeer)

All of that really helped with the understeer and gave a slight oversteer condition on throttle. Before, the front wheels would lose traction very easily because the inside wheel had so little grip. One you got above 80Mph or so the downforce really started working and it stuck like glue. OSJ, give it a shot if you have time and let me know what you think.

Thanks guys. You can send it over, but I am going to focus on the Subie first as it is the most relevant to me winning races currently. 🙂 I still have your RX7 that I haven't driven yet.

As for Subie tunes, I really haven't driven them too much. If Arby doesn't mind I can post my final tune up and let you guys have at it. I certainly don't mind sharing!

I watched enough of the replay to feel like I know what happened for the most part. I need to watch it again after work when I've got more time so I can analyze lines and speeds but here's what it looks to me like what happened:

The start order among the involved parties was Blowfish, myself, QuikWgn, and Tevolo. Blowfish, myself, and someone else (not sure who) were three wide going into turn 1, driver X on the left, me in the middle, Blowfish on the right. I think I broke a little too late and when I thought I was clear of Blowfish, tried to adjust my line so I could take the corner better but I wasn't quite clear of Blowfish and clipped his front, sending us both into the dirt. Tevolo and QuikWgn touched but I haven't yet determined the cause of that. Tevolo was in front but I'm not sure if he broke too early or QuikWgn broke too late. The result of that collision, though, did send Tevolo off to the right after Blowfish but from what I can see at this point, there was no collision between Tevolo and Blowfish. Tevolo and I were running identical cars so when watching the replay, be sure to check the name of the driver and not just "that damn Clemson car" 😛

When I get home from work, I'll probably check it out again and confirm all of the above and find out the source of the collision between Tevolo and QuikWgn but as it stands in my mind right now, Blowfish, your off was 100% unequivocally my fault and I apologize for my extreme stupidity.

I saw you guys going 3 wide into the turn so I slowed down a bit because I knew there would be a wreck. I got rear ended hard and flew off the track.

I tried it at first with no power upgrades. It handled very nicely, but just didn't have much for speed. Ended up running sport tires and put some power parts in it. I think that with a good tune and possibly tweaking the parts it would have been a much better car.

Also looking @ the leaderboards just @ Sunset last night there were 6 PB's set.

Most people probably won't have AH paint jobs so it shouldn't be an issue.

Heck, I don't think I'll be able to make it this coming week and I've got a Subaru WRC paint job on a locked car if anyone wants it, I actually put it in the AH yesterday (didn't sell).

I got mine in B700 tune for $50k with that paint figure I broke even compared to cost of dealer car + B700 partts upgrade. I just changed the car's base color layer, edited the 2 layers that had the plate number to match mine, added the 18 layers for my name on the plate, painted the wheels and added tint.

Information wants to be free.

Queasy my Laguna Seca race and car were so far gone when you hit me I didn't even notice. I was still wrecking. You may have knocked me straight.

Not me. I avoid that at all costs. Still working up the nerve.

You lie. 🙂

I don't mind riding somebody's bumper but given I don't get the chance much [/b]there is a psychological affect to it.[/b]

I'm with spidey here. You lie like a rug! 😛 I distinctly recall bumper riding to the point of pushing me down the straight at Mugello because I was desperately trying to block you so I could finish ahead of you and earn that extra few points.

That's called a bump draft...to quote Robert Duvall "Rubbin's racin' son!" 😉

Fellas check out the scoreboards for Road Atlanta. OSJ just posted a 1:15 for Road Atlanta in the CLK I sent him. Guess we know he likes the CLK LOL

Great job OSJ!!
