No, they're still giving me the run-around, saying it can take up to 12 business days from when it is shipped back to get here. They didn't have a tracking number and they told me I should just wait two more days (so far it's been ten business days since they sent it back) and if I still don't have it they will escalate the issue.

That is crazy though. Maybe I got shafted because it's a power brick and not an RROD console? They didn't send me a prepaid shipping box - I had to pack it up and ship it at my expense. And now it seems they've put it on the slowest UPS truck in the world to get back to me.

Oh! D'oh. I missed the part about it being a power brick. Yeah, they probably put it on the UPS truck with the 30mph restrictor plate and a tendency to go on Thelma & Louise like adventures...

Cars for 8/6 are:

R4s - no audis, no volvo (keeping it RWD, and that S4 tops the leaderboard)
The Impreza is RWD and good to go.

If there are any complaints I can get more creative. I've been wanting to do something faster and RWD only. I've been busy and for August/September I am out of town M-F but I should be able to race.

Should be fun, no clue what R4 to use though...hrm.

If anyone needs an R4 car (I assume everyone's got one) let me know, I've got all the R cars.

Been a light week on the conversation... just checking to see who's in for tonight. I'll be there (and can host unless someone else would rather or everyone would rather I didn't).

I've pondered a recruitment thread. You don't think with all the people on this forum we couldn't get a couple more guys to join here and there? I would gift the night's cars to them.

And I could paint bright yellow bumpers on them!

woops I could have edited my above post +1

I agree, I think we should enact some kind of recruitment idea. I'm not exactly sure why more people don't join, but maybe the 1836+1 post thread is getting intimidating for some new folks. It's good that we have a friendly neighborhood racing Mod to promote it for us. 😛

Have him change the topic marker. Quesy, do our bidding.

alright, I changed the title and sub-heading. If anyone wants to start a new thread so we don't intimidate newbies with the post count, go right ahead.

Good racing guys.

I tested a R4 w/ calculator setup vs. stock setup (but 29psi tires and full downforce) The calculator made the car worse. With the slightly modified stock setup i did s 1:19.156 which is good for #877 / 254,381 on road atlanta 🙂 (including all those damn S4s)

Yeah, enjoyed it last night. All things considered, I liked the Ion fairly well. It was a little understeery at times but I found that usually happened when I came off a corner a bit too hot. If I came off properly, I could maintain exit speed without understeering.

Now to turn my attentions to the R4. I don't know anything about those at all - or even which ones are available that I don't have and might want to use - so this should be interesting. I'm a bit sad that I can't do my patriotic paintjob next week. I'm planning on doing those in support of the US Olympic Team until the games end.

Yep things went much better once I got the car tuned, thanks CK. It wasn't a bad car at all but one thing is for sure I suck in any car when I don't practice with it first!!!

My apologies go out to everyone as I know I created more than one accident last night all on my own. Particularly the wipe out of just about everyone on Road Atlanta. Once I had the tune though things got better and I was competitve.

I will do my best to practice before next Wed ... I promise.

Thanks

Greg

OSJ I noticed your ion was a little oversteery too but really only when the corner of my car was pushing into it. - sorry I let off and was going to let you by and I didn't even realize how bad it was.

I feel kind of like a jerk what with your well-done patriotic paint scheme and my crudely drawn bird-flipping cartoon characters 🙂

If you just go into the arcade R4 cars it's a pretty complete list. You technically don't even need to buy a car because there are no parts to buy. You can save your tune to it and just load it back on for racing.

I don't know if I saved the replay of Tsukuba to see what happened. We were side by side a lot last night it seemed like. Probably not the fastest way around the track for either of us but sometimes that's how it works, I suppose.

Ah, I suppose that's true about the arcade. Hadn't really thought about that.

Just out of curiosity, what gearing were you and OSJ running? You both seemed to have better acceleration than everybody else...especially off the line.

I found that out. 😀

Before the last race I looked over the R4s that I had and picked a couple that I thought were good.

I tried one of the different #'s of the car you set your time with and after appling the tune I couldn't keep the rear end on the ground.

I just don't know enough about tuning one to even attempt to dial it in, at this point I'm testing another car that I had on my list. Still haven't came close to your time, but so far I like it better.

Individual gears were at default settings and my final drive was 3.65 (stock?).

Skinnee I watched the replay and the short version is I hit you. I was going probably 1-2mph faster and crept up on you and got too close. I didn't pit you side of the fender to side of the fender style but as I cut right to left for the turn the arcs of our bumpers caught and took the rear of your car to the left and the front of it to the right. It was my fault, obviously.

Well that fast time I mention was with the #3 lechner GT3 but the engines in those porsches insist on beating the headlights through corners and it's just too much of handful to hotlap, let alone race with traffic. I got it almost under control but the rear end gets skiddish under braking and doesn't allow the car to settle through a corner, so I'll have something else.
