Ok in response to posts and PMs with members of the Wed Night Races I would like to start up a new Forza 2 Enduro Race Challenge Series.

**THIS IS NOT TO BE CONFUSED WITH WED FORZA NIGHTS!! THAT IS A SEPARATE THING AND IS NOT CHANGING .... THIS IS FOR RACERS LOOKING FOR MORE OF A CHALLENGE**

The Races will be every other Tuesday (this MAY change) starting on 3/3/09 at 9PM EST. There are 8 spots available and only 8 spots. Points will accumulate over the next 8 races (ie 16 weeks) with the grand winner receiving 1 million Forza 2 Game Credits. Rules and info are posted below (stolen from Forza Forums but revamped -- thanks Ty).

I want to be clear that this is an ongoing series. If you CANNOT make it one week that's fine BUT you will be behind points wise. Also please serious racers only. This is not Cat & Mouse or wreck everyone race night. Newcomers are welcome but I will have to ask that your Forza True Skill Rank be at least a 12. Races will consist of 1 track each week somewhere around 25 laps or so (roughly a 40 min race time) depending on track length.

WE WILL BE USING FULL RACE OPTIONS -- TIRE WEAR, FUEL USAGE, & COLLISIONS -- NO DAMAGE AT THIS POINT

RULES & RESTRICTIONS

1. You must drive the same car each race week. You can upgrade/downgrade/tune/tweak as much as you want in between race weeks but it has to be the same car.

2. If you cannot make it one week you can HIRE a fill in driver but only 1/2 the points they win transfer to you.

3. There will be a reward weight system in place to keep the racing even throughout the season. Being that there isn't any ballast in the game we'll adjust the PI of the cars relative to the finishing position in points from the race before.

4. Cars should be RACE PAINTED (not themed) and should show your #. If you do not have a # from prior race nights just post here what # you want and it's yours (if not already taken)

SCHEDULE

Round 1 at Road Atlanta (2/24/09)
Round 2 at Laguna Seca (3/12/09)
Round 3 at Sebring (3/24/09)
Round 4 at Silverstone (4/7/09)
Round 5 at Maple Valley (4/21/09)
Round 6 at Road America (5/5/09)
Round 7 at Suzuka (5/19/09)
Round 8 at Sunset Infield (6/2/09)

**Race Night can change from Tuesday to Thursday to try and make sure we have all participants. Remember you can "hire" a substitute driver for a week if you cannot make it**

QUALIFYING:

Each Sunday of race week at 9PM EST we will hold Qualifying for the that week's track. It will be your fastest lap of 3 on the track of the week. This will then determine your starting position in the race for that week. Each racer will have the track to themselves such that no one can interfere with you during qualifying.

If you CANNOT make it on Sunday to Qualify simply "team up" with another racer in the series to have them "witness" your fast lap and report it to me via PM on the forums or on XBLIVE.

CAR RULES

NO RESTRICTIONS on the cars themselves. You can do anything you want.

Car will begin at a level of A800 (allows for improvements and reductions based on the weighted chart). Note that a car can only go up to PI Level of A830 or down to a level of A770. Placing 1st or 8th 4 times in a row still only nets a +/- 30 PI increase/decrease.

1st Place: -15 P.I.
2nd Place: -10 P.I.
3rd Place: -5 P.I.
4th Place: +/- 0 P.I.
5th Place: +/- 0 P.I.
6th Place: +5 P.I.
7th Place: +10 P.I.
8th Place: +15 P.I.

RACE POINTS

1st - 15 points
2nd - 12 points
3rd - 10 points
4th - 8 points
5th - 6 points
6th - 4 points
7th - 3 points
8th - 2 points

SEASON WINNINGS

1st Place - 2 Million Forza Credits
2nd Place - 1 Million Forza Credits
3rd Place - 500k Forza Credits

Of course you get all your winnings from each weeks race as well (given out by the game).

First question ....

What car(s) do we want to go with?

Should we all be in the same car, should it be a list you can initially pick from but limited to certain style/drivetrain etc?

LMK you guys thoughts

Thanks

In.

As for the car, I think for the Enduro races, the car needs to be the same car or very close to the same car to keep things equal.

In although I might not be able to do Tuesdays (methinks Thursday would probably work better, but not 100% on that)...we'll see.

#83 plz ^^

As for cars, keep the variety theme, but if you wanna balance everything out do what they did on the rules I sent ya, make a HP cap and a weight "zone" that your car must be within.

If all the cars are between 290 and 300 horsepower and within 200 lbs of each other it'll be relatively close methinks.

Yeah I was thinking that might be a good way to go to provide a little variety. Of course I like the idea of all the same car as well.

Let me post that info you gave me and let everyone read it and give their thoughts.

Here is a post Ty sent me on the series someone at Forza Forums did. Read it over and lets figure out if this is the direction we want to go OR something else.

Touring Car specs
-Only cars up to 2.8-litres are permitted and they must be normally aspirated unless it came from the factory with forced induction. The forced induction on permitted cars cannot be upgraded (intercoolers are fine, no upgrading the turbo or supercharger though).
-A maximum of 300bhp (220 kw). Not 301 or 302... 300 MAX. The room will be set for this so you won't be able to select a car with more power anyway.
-Forza front bumper and spoiler must be installed
-No Forza rear bumper.
-Stock Hood
-Tires must be race compound (any brand)
-No engine/drivetrain swaps are allowed
-Cars will be built to B700 spec, but that will change (Maximum PI for all cars is 750)
-Cars must be able to seat four adults, and convertibles are not allowed.
-Race Livery preferred, but not required. If you need or want one feel free to ask me (or anyone else) for one.
-Cars may be FWD, RWD, or AWD.
-Cars must have been in production in 2002 or later.
-Weight Restriction of 2050-2900 lbs (932-1133 kg).
-There will be no car changes allowed after the first race.

Available Cars
-2005 Chevrolet Cobalt SS Coupe
-2003 Dodge SRT4

I say raise the max HP (since we're doing A800 vs. B700) and lower the amount of PI hit you take for winning/losing (since the spread of skill for them was alot greater than ours). Make it +/- 10 or 15 max each race, over there they have a guy who's top 200 on most tracks with B class and a few guys who are usually 2-3 seconds/lap slower on longer tracks.

Also, since at least 2 of the racers (maybe more) have the same # plate (that, IMHO, looks pretty good ^^) I'll happily supply the "league" # plates to add a flavor of authenticity.

Oh, and for good measure I'll throw in another 1 million creds into the winner's pot, 1 mil for 2nd place, and 500K for 3rd.

I am in. #00 is my number from our Forza Nights if I remember correctly.

As for cars, I think we should be in the same car. I haven't read the long post that Ty sent yet though so let me get back to that topic in a few minutes.

**New thoughts - I like what Ty posted and I also like the PI limit stated in that post. It allows for a nice car to be built but one that is not overzealous. We could still probably maintain the penalty/reward system but possibly lower the numbers some since 30 PI in a B class is a lot compared to 30 PI in an A class. I dunno, its dependent on how close the first race is I think. If the last place guy was lapped 40 times then 30 PI may be needed.

Good idea Blowfish, I like it.

Good thoughts one and all, keep them coming so we can continue to work out the details.

OSJ PMed me with a lot of ideas as well and he will post them later this evening when he gets to channel them into a post.

Thanks

Greg

**BTW after 30 seconds of research about DAMAGE on the Forza Forums I don't think I will be turning this on (ie it will be on for Cosmetic purposes only). There appears to some flaws in its implementation -- example: you lose a wing or bumper in a wreck it cannot be replaced in a pit stop but if you damage or lose a tire it can be. I am not sure I want to spend 30 mins driving a car with no aero at all.

Thoughts?

I am very tempted to join in, but I'm not sure I can make both tues and wed nights in 1 week.

If possible add me to the list for now to reserve a spot, I'll figure out my logistics. #28

I dunno if steering problems can be fixed either, now that would be REALLY annoying.

Day is not set in stone yet.

I kinda picked Tuesday based on my schedule but Thursday may not be too bad either. I know I could Sunday nights but I am not sure anyone else could.

I think everyone should post what day is best for them and we can go from there. ALSO even if we pick Tuesday as the night there is nothing that says it can't be moved once or twice to another day if everyone is in agreement.

I think the key is for us to all make it each time so the series is just that a series.

Oh the time is also not set in stone either. Since we are looking at basically about 45 mins 1 night we could start later if need be.

Tuesday nights appear to be the only night I could even possibly make it on a consistent basis.

Tuesdays or Sundays are good for me. I have martial arts on Thursday night and don't usually get home until 8PM EST or later but should still be able to make it.

Gotcha.

Coming up I know Tuesdays and Wednesdays will be tight for me but as long as we start no earlier than 9pm I am always good (Soccer season starts on 3/28 and I am coaching 2 teams and one of the league refs this year -- WTF I must be nuts!!)

I'm tuesday/thursday/sunday, with an emphasis on thurs/sun. Tues is a maybe but I'd have to beg my wife I'm sure.

Or we could be crazy and just do it an hour before our typical Wednesday night races start...

*edit*
Anyone want these for the plates? I can put your last name & number on pretty easy...it looks better when blown up.

Rule ideas for your consideration/opinion:

Car will begin at a level of A820 (allows for improvements and reductions based on the weighted chart). Note that a car can only go up to PI Level of A850 or down to a level of A750.

At this This way we won't have an A750 racing an A850 later on...that's a lil' too much of a spread. A790 is still a huge gap...I'd almost say lower it to +/- 10/6/3 and start at A830 with a 20 point +/- spread...

Not long after the game came out, I joined a very short-lived series run through another forum I read. It never made it since it was too big and people were unreliable, etc. But the gist of it was that everyone chose any car they wanted and had to build it to a max PI of 550. You had to use the same car for the entire series but each week you could upgrade it and tune it however you want so long as you didn't exceed the maximum PI. I think something like that would probably work really well. Maybe we come up with a list of available cars to pick from, we get them locked in, and do whatever we see fit each week. I do like the idea of having variable PI depending on past performance as an effort to keep things close.

As for dates, I'm fine with anything, really. Maybe not Wednesday just because we're all already tied up due to the regular Forza night. I'm going to be selfish and say that if we do run Thursdays, let's offset it by one week. I've got every other Friday off and as it is right now, the races would be run before a work Friday. That's not really a problem, though, just throwing it out there in case anyone decides to agree :) The week of Memorial Day will be a problem for me, though, I know that now. I'm planning on taking Tuesday through Friday of that week off and being out of town. Other folks may be out that week as well due to the holiday. With that in mind, I'd like to push for either taking a break that week or setting the race schedule so that nothing falls that week.

Ty, I might be interested in that number plate you've got. I can't recall, do real race series use standardized number plates or are teams free to design their own? Or does that vary from series to series?
